50+ drivers for the ICC field...now that's what I'm talking about. That is
the kind of pressure that makes racing, racing. The supported teams are
going to have to make sure their guys have clean heats while the
non-supported guys are going to have to work like hell to even
make the final. Good luck to all of the south Texas guys.

A great achievement it is, that Lake Speed made it to NASCAR's top level. But personally, I think he has a greater accomplishment than that. Everyone here should know what it is, something no other U.S., or North American karter, past or present, has ever done.
I will be following his progress this weekend. Question: Is he driving a Birel again? And is Lynn Haddock his tuner? |

I don't want to take another away from Lake Speed winning the World Championship. But a few other Americans have done VERY VERY well in international competition since.
Ken Kroeger won the Formula K World Championships in Jacksonville only to have CIK say it wasn't the World Championship due to alot of protest.
Brian Jacobsen won a Formula A race back when the North America Championships were HUGE.
Patrick Long won a Formula A race at the Winter Cup in Lonato a few years back which had all the big factory drivers at the time racing.

Not to take anything away from those guys (and even add Ron White to the list), but a race win here and there does not constitute a World Championship. Just because it wasn't in your generationdoesn't make it any less an accomplishment. You forget about wins, you never forget a World Championship.
I just think it's bad ass that he is still racing.

Should be a great weekend for Birel
Mike Wilson in the Pit ....
Lake Speed will be on his Birel and Lyn will be at the track just like at the WKA race earlyer this year.
Boswell looking to get in on the Fun in ICC
Mike G back in ICA should be fun to watch...
Miinch and Murray from the west coast.. And Karam on Birel
Going to be exciting..
