A big congratulations to Brian Garfield for winning at Peru. Looks like quite a few guys may have made the challenge.

Yeah, Brian drove very well all weekend. He was never lower than 2nd after any heat. Very impressive. Especially for someone in their first season in a kart. Darn rookie!

I red-lit away my last right-side run (was a 27.9xx) that would've won the class by over .300s. Embarassed The light was only a 0.492. Yes, I'm still ticked at myself for that one...

But congrats to Brian anyway. He will be tough to beat on his home turf in DC in 3 weeks, but I won't make it easy on him. Wink

Only 3 of us made it in to the challenge (I was 29th qualifyer only .239 out of first). Brian made it through the first round when Ian Baker broke, then won the 2nd round in a comeback. He finally went out when he spun and coned at the finish of his 3rd round.

Shiedler red-lit his 2nd side against Dr. Strelnieks after being down only .200 from the first on cold tires. I drove like an idiot on my 2nd side against Mattew Braun after being down only 0.046s on cold tires after the first side.

Nut McClintock and Keith both made the bonus challenge. Nut spun and coned. Keith red-lit.

Fun weekend. And really looking for revenge in DC in 3 weeks.

You're so bitter. Razz

It was a ton of fun, although my left arm is STILL hurting. Eventually I'll get used to that many runs on that much grip.

It is truly a pleasure to race with everyone. In my sixth National season and 4th different class, this is by far the best group of people. No other class is so connected and willing to help each other.

A special thanks to my traveling partner, Mike Kline, for his help throughout the weekend. Don't let his position fool you, he's running the times...
Also, The Nut, for having EVERYthing with him EVERYwhere...

Also, congrats to my son Julian for the comeback in FJB. He looses over one second at the line (K80 vs. KT100 60ft times) and was able to come back and win on Sunday. I can tell you this, that will likely be the last Pro he does underpowered and narrow tire'd (the tires AND motor might be in by the weekend...)

Lisa couldn't make it due to illness, among many other things. But expect her in full force at D.C.!

Thanks again for the congrats, I'm very happy I made the switch to (as Alan said) the "Dark Side".

Brian

Nope. MGs. But I doubt "MG" is one of the listed brands in the SCCA registration database.

Everyone except for ME Twisted Evil Shhhh...

BTW, I'm not sure I've ever noticed so much movement on a Pro Sunday, everyone changed position:

Brian: 2nd to 1st
Alan: 5th to 2nd
Larry: 4th to 3rd
Dan: 1st to 4th
Biff: 3rd to 5th
Mike K: 7th to 6th
Mike M: 8th to 7th
Keith: 6th to 8th

That is pretty wild. Goes to show that you can't sit on Saturday's times and expect to win at a Pro.

Did anyone tell Brian that once you start winning, we stop helping?
