Rotax Community,

SSC’s vision in developing the Rotax program from its inception was to grow the sport of karting by bringing new customers to the sport by developing a program that offers a level playing field through a new spec concept simple to understand, low maintenance and offers a step-up competitive program from local, regional, nationals and world levels of competition.

This formula has proven to be successful as new karters have joined the Rotax Max Challenge by the thousands and now the “Champ Car Rotax Kart Challenge” offers more exposure that will allow us to take it to new levels.

Much has been invested to insure the success of the ROTAX program and it is our duty and responsibility at SSC to protect this investment and insure the program continues to grow.

Warning: In keeping with SSC’s original business model as mentioned above there will be ZERO tolerance with respect to Rotax Dealers and Service Centers promoting and misleading Rotax customers to think they must have Rotax engines “blue printed” to be competitive.

This practice of misleading customers who bought into the Rotax program with a clear understanding that the engine seal was the guarantee of an equal playing field strikes at the heart of what the Rotax program is all about and will not be allowed to continue.

It has been clearly proven that such misleading technical needs are not required to be competitive, just ask the 2005 International champion how many hours of operation he had on an engine freshly out of the box before he put it on the center step of the podium at the 2005 Grand Nationals.

Any advertising or promotion offering to charge for such technical work on Rotax engines is prohibited and will not be allowed to be performed through official service centers.

All authorized Service Centers are required to stop all such advertising practices immediately. Rotax is currently reviewing websites and printed advertising of all Dealers and Service Centers and if such offers are being made by a dealer a warning will be issued to that dealer that unless such advertising practices are immediately stopped, no additional seals will be shipped to the dealer.

Warranty registered and Club-R-Max members will be notified that this practice will not be tolerated and are asked to report to Rotax if they know such action is being taken.

We apologize if any dealer feels we are being unfair with taking such a hard-line, and that we may be denying a dealer for due profits by making such offers, but truth of the matter is that our customers have made an investment with a clear understanding as to what they can expect, and furthermore SSC has also made a significant investment and will protect it’s investment at all costs, including: denying such dealers from such profits.

If you have questions or would like to further discuss this issue please email me at jr@rmaxchallenge.com.

Respectfully yours,

Joe Ramos Jr.
Program Director
Champ Car Rotax Kart Challenge

SSC East fully supports the stand the Joe Ramos Senior and Junior are taking on this Rotax Engine Blueprinting issue. We have been getting a lot of calls on this subject during the past month from customers who have been told that the only way that they are going to get to the podium is with a Rotax engine that has been blueprinted. They have even told me that certain service centers have tried to convince them that they have "special" cylinders from Austria that they can have for a totally unrealistic price. This is totally untrue and this business practice is not acceptable and will not be tolerated by SSC East.
