Gary, Here in Indy we have what we call Thunder in the Dome, At the RCA Dome where the Colts play. They run it right on the concrete surface. We are talking from kart to midgets. A great time. Fumes never seem to bother with the exhaust system. very large crowds.

Thunder

There are photo's somewhere in there.

I saw a place yesterday called arena kart racing and it is indoor race track in a old lowes home improvement store, it is a concession kart rental place. I asked the mgr about racing and he said they were trying to do somthing, but all the people there, that race only race on clay ovals and were not intrested. He said he would love to do it (rent out the track) and have some races like he has seen on speedvision? I have only seen the stars of tomorrow! I must have missed somthing. I raced indoor in nashville years ago and it was a blast. I think this arena kart racing is a franchise becouse I have seen several here in the south.

Brad, What these are called is "Indoor Karting" This is a cross between concession karting and kart racing. There are about 50 in the states now. Rob @ national karting has a list somewhere.

I think the focus should be aimed at more of a convention center type of venue. That way you already have a concrete surface to work with although it is usually a polished surface. Most convention centers are HUGE and can easily support some good racing and you could design a "Normal" sized track. I guess the hurdle would be temporary grandstands and the ventilation. Just a thought.....
