Paul,
Check out www.solo2.com for the website of the SoCal SCCA region. Also, www.sdr-solo2.com for San Diego if that's of interest.
Karts are now welcome at both groups events. The LA region typically has 2-6 F125 karts and SDR about 1-3. Looks like a few LA guys will be buying karts for next year so it might be busier then.
Rules can be found at scca.com, but you'll have to dig around a bit under the 'Solo' tab to find them.
Autocross is kind of weird to guys that are used to the track time available at races because there isn't a lot of track time - usually about three minutes total. However, there probably isn't any better way to practice the art of learning new courses as every time it's a new course. Also, the course isn't easy to read as the definition between course and not-course is made by nothing but cones and chalklines. It's also a heck of a lot safer than racing as there is almost no way that another's mistake can affect your day. No worries about someone crashing you out.

thanks, larry... yea, i realize that track time is limited, but it still seems like it would be a lot of fun... for lots of track time and high g forces, nck's road races are great, but i see no reason to limit myself... anyways, i'll check that websight...

| Do karts run practices? I've been to a few practices lately and haven't seen a single kart run a practice. I only have seen them at championships. |

There are only 3 regulars that run F125 in San Diego and Cal Club. Karts can/do run in practices, but maybe not every time.
