Last weekend, I got my new carb. It's a Keihin PWM.
This may sound like a dumb question.
But how can you tell if the carb is rich or lean?
I'm using only watch water temperature. Can you tell if the carb is lean or rich from the water temperature?
I had trouble getting off the line, seems like no matter what I did.
Thanks

| Gary, tuning of the khein carb is just like any other. You should be able to tell if the carb is rich or lean by reading your plug. If the porcelan is whit you are lean if its dark then you are rich. This is a very general statement though, there are many other variables in reading a plug but generaly this is true. In terms of getting offf the line, you can possibly improve your starts by adjusting the needle setting. If you want I can go into more depth but this should help you get pointed in the right direction. |

Patrick,
Thanks.
Here some more info.
-First heat
way too lean, plug was pretty darn white.
=Riched the pilot and main both one size.
-Second heat.
plug looked good, still couldn't get off the line good.
=moved the needle up
-Third heat
still couldn't get off the line.
My problem is knowing what to change.
You have the main jet, pilot jet, air screw, needle position.
I just get confused sometime. Is there a book I can read or something.
