A good friend of mine and I got started in shifters last year. We've done a bunch of practice days at SBRP, Grattan, and others, and we're just trying to get up to speed. It's been quite a learning curve- ZOOM ZOOM!

I did 1 race at Grattan this year, and had a blast. Road racing is more my style, even though sprint tracks are great for learning the whole set of skills. But I digress.

But that's probably why you've never heard of me. But you will...

DO you keep your karts stored in a trailer at a certain auto glass company?

WE just showed up at our local drag strip one practice day because it was real close. The first time they saw us they were apprehensive but understanding. It was funny, one of the drag tech guys said "OK well no problem, but you guys have helmets, right." WE had helmets racing suits and neck braces it was funny.

Point being. Before I tore off to another drag strip I would call them first. NOT everyone is completely familiar with them so they could be apprehensive. But, a friendly heads up would probably get you in.

What they ask at our strip is karts only on the strip and there has to be two karts no single runs. Thats fair. Basically take an even number of karts.

Driving a long way and not get to run would be no fun.

Charlie,
No, my workshop for my sign company is in that group of buildings,(if you're referring to the same glass company that I'm thinking of) and we use that for our base of racing operations. How'd you know? Can nothing be kept private?

Actually, if you look carefully, you can see some telltale rubber marks on the fresh pavement...

I ran my 80cc shifter in 2 solo II events last year and had FTD (fastest time of the day). No close competition except a lotus elan which was still 5 seconds off and a CHAMP Light car which was 3 seconds off on a 55 second course.

Check out my web site at www.indevcoracing.com and go to the multimedia section. There is a video of a lap. Unfortunately, I went off course. It's challenging when sitting that low to the ground and trying to see the line through the pilons. :-)

Regards,
Mike
