Re-posting with a combined topic name, to see if anyone can provide an answer. I've emailed SKUSA and haven't heard back, so we'll see what this post brings. Does anyone know what the format is going to be in Norman come Sept? Two mains, one for WF and one for CS? much like the USSC and the CS in July? Or is the Super-Pro main the main for the CS race? I'm thinking the former, as it is a seperate series, and combining mains would make a mess for semi-pro drivers from SKUSA that race pro in the CS race.

Phil, sorry I missed your question the first time around.

When I talked to Hollis Brown just before the U.S. Shifter Nationals, he informed me that for the World Finals (and SuperNats), there will be just one main for the SKUSA SuperPro/Stars Pro 125 Shifter contingent.

To my understanding, how it will work for the World Finals is as follows:

If a Pro 125 driver has accumulated any "Stars" points in either the first Vegas race or at the USSN, then he/she will be eligible to race at the SKUSA World Finals. Again, only for the Pro 125 class.

If there has been a change to that structure, I have not heard of it as of this time.

If there were only one main that would mean that S1 could race in the S1 SKUSA World Finals if elligible and race in the SKUSA SuperPro/Stars of Tomorrow if elligible.

From what I see there are S1 drivers that have accumalated points in the Stars series.

Any insight on that perspective?

To me that seems odd (not impossible) that SKUSA would allow that.

(added this part--I had hoped to attend the Stars under the Shifter and the Rotax, but don't want to bring the Shifter if it's not a possibility.)

Ill bring back up my original question as well. How much is this race going to be worth as far as points go? I feel that this race should be worth more points to help make up for there being unbalanced regions. If the World Finals were worth more it would give the stronger region, a chance to make up more points against drivers in the other region at this race.

The the World Finals is worth a Pro Moto Tour National championship, and to get a national number plate for 2002. Also, in my opinion, winning particular SKUSA races are almost bigger than winning the championship by all means. Winning the World Finals if your in 20th place in points is a championship in its self. I had 2 DNF's in Barrie, and Im sitting in somewhere around 6th-7th place in points, I can't win the championship unless the unthinkable happens. So why go you ask? To win the race!

Okay fair enough, but lets assume we've accumulated points, which technically we have. Regardless of our personal situation, there are other S1 drives in the same boat. Sooooo..... Do we run all the SuperPro stuff as well as the S1 stuff? Do we run all the S1 stuff and start at the back of the SP main? Do we get three sets of tires? The list of questions obviously can get quite large. I emailed LVKC this morning, probably should call them, but I'll give them some time to reply to email. Whatever I hear from them, I'll post here.

so what your post implies is that a 'pro' driver who was not eligible for the WF can attend if that driver has points in either of the first two stars races? screw the S1's essentially? well not screw em, but 'if you want to run pro, run pro'

Phil,

I'm not just implying that, I'm saying that.

Yes, the information I received was that any Stars Pro 125 driver (regardless of his SKUSA S1 status)who accumulated points at Vegas or the USSN, would be allowed to participate in the single SuperPro race at the World Finals.

That information was accurate as of late June. If the format has been changed, I have not received any notice of that.

I will be interested to hear what response you get from LVKC.

Again, unless there has been a change in the format, the World Finals will count the same as any other ProMoto event.

I have accumulated points in the 'Stars Pro 125' and I am an S1 driver in SKUSA. You are telling me I now have the option of running S1 and SuperPro at the World Finals? Thats fine with me, but if I was a Super Pro driver and was shooting for a top 5 in the points standings, I wouldn't want some S1 punk running that race. I guess what they would have to do is take the finishing order of the race, and those who are S1 drivers would be deleted from the finishing order for the Pro Moto results and the Super Pro's behind the S1's would just move up to the next spot. For the Stars results the standings would be left as they took the checkerd, unless not entered of course.

Preston, This will seperate the men from the boys. I firmly believe than some S1 drivers belong in SP and vise versa. I can't wait.

as far as Preston not being in a good position to win the championship, i dont think many people expected Bobby Wilson to win the championship going into the World Finals last year. so, maybe with a lot of luck, and a well driven race, you could win it. good luck.

I thought I heard the only points given out for the "Stars" series, was for people finishing in the top 6 positions. Has anybody else heard this? If this is true, it would sure eliminate a lot of drivers.

Well I talked to Hollis last night. I asked him if I could post the results of that conversation. He said yes. In a nutshell, he told me "bring two karts". While the race is Murleys show, the Stars race is his and he is trying to keep it as close as possible to what the original rules were. Regardless of that, any driver that has raced in the Stars series to this point is eligible to race in the Stars race in OK in Sept. If you're an S1 driver and Murley/Hollis decide that the Super-Pro class is essentially the Stars class, then you will race 6 heats and two mains, entered into two different classes, S1 and Super-Pro/Stars. People like Jaskol have it even harder. He is second in points in Stars 125 and Rotax, and not doing badly in S1, so he runs 3 sets of races. I don't know what other decisions they make regarding Stars/SP, maybe that an S1 driver can qualify for Stars and start at the back if he/she doesn't run the SP heats? Regardless, I'm taking Hollis on his word, and bringing two karts. See you all in OK, some of you in NM, and probably some more of you in LV.
