How do I make my kart idle?

Every once and a while i see some one that has a kart that will idle on the stand. It doesn't see to matter what I do mine will not idle. No amount of dialing in the idle screw will get it to idle. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem but it also was very hard to start, took Mr. Tackett's advice about jetting and it worked. I found that by changing the slow speed jet and rebuilding the fuel pump, I was able to get an idle.
