With the kart racing in America getting more and more attention, and the possiblilties of exposure for young drivers on the increase, how many kart racers are taking advantage of the internet by having their own websites? Also, what type of responses are you seeing by having a personal website?

I think there there are currently several drivers who have their own websites. I know that EKN is also working around the clock to unveil a service which will allow drivers to have their own domain-name website, under the EKN website.

If you are interested in some websites, you can see the following:

www.landonyee.com
www.jasonbowles.com
www.rennortenburger.com

last but not least:

Larry, as I see it, few drivers are really taking advantage of the web. Many drivers have sites, but that's only part of the picture. Site quality, functionality, timeliness in content, and visibility are the issues that usaully aren't addressed correctly.

As for our offering, we are getting very close to unvieling it. We have four drivers, using the first four of our site designs, set to have their sites up within a few weeks. I think it will be a great thing for the drivers, as we can direct traffic to them that no one else can. It won't be cheap, but it won't be expensive either. A great value.

We'll see if people think the same...

Glenn

Didn't know what to expect on this one. I was still drunk and just wanted to type something up. However, since the boys will be offering this service SOMEDAY, maybe it was good timing. How about keeping this one up for the unveiling? Maybe it will light a fuse. Thanks.

Seems to me most "driver" sites fail to show what they've done to support their sponsors other than showing up at the track and collecting trophies. Now I'm in the process of becoming an old fart who shows up to spend money and dream so maybe I'm getting cynical, but I think many are missing half of the marketing picture and are too busy bragging about themselves.

A nice example is Dustin Courter's site

Chuck,

I see where you're coming from, but I think the drivers that 'get it right' and support their sponsors are going to generally be the ones who will go further.

This is right up my alley. I have a ton of driver sites listed on KartMonster.

Steve Welk has a real good site.

The Brazilians take their karting on the web very seriously. Among the best are:

Atila Abreau
Marcelo Thomaz
Sérgio Jimenez
Fernando Rees
Augusto Junior

Check those out.

http://scottracing.net includes driver data for Carl, Kristen and some of our future drivers. We have had it up for two years and get a fair amount of traffic and several emails inquiring about for sale stuff. We have also had our sponsors tell us they have gotten some traffic from our site as well.

There are web companies out there (http://www.register.com comes to mind, I'm sure there are several others) that will sell you a .com address. I think they cost somewhere around $35, a one-time fee I believe.
