I know there has been discussion about this topic. It seems the idea was to keep karting costs down for this class and spec out the clutch.

It may have been timely and true at that time but now it seems a 3-disk wet clutch is a costly obsolete item with a $290 price tag plus tools and oil.

To change classes from Sportsman (Yamaha 3 hole box exhaust) to Superbox (Yamaha 4 hole box exhaust) this clutch seems to be a large obstacle.

For $290, I can get a Tomar SBX basically run it all year long with no extra tools or oil to buy.

With all this said...My question are:

How does one submit a rule change for submission to the IKF?

How are these suggestions recieved?

Any real chance of the IKF adopting an open clutch rule similar to the WKA?

Matt

If you have an issue with pretty much any IKF rule, step number one is to write it down and email or snail mail it to the IKF office (don't forget to include your IKF number - for some strange reason the IKF pays more attention to comments from people who actually bother to join the IKF Very Happy

After that, talk to or email those who are on the relevent committee (in this case the 2 cycle Spring committee) - sorry but I'm on the road right now and don't have access to the information or I'd list the committee member names.

Oh, and assuming there are other IKF members that agree with you, get them to write the IKF as well. There is always strength in numbers.

Tim
