I guess the topic says it all. Looking to run a #520 chain and gears on 40 & 50mm axles.
What size are typical 250Kart axles, and where do you guys get your gears?
Thanks,

| most seem to run 428 chain and 35mm axles. When we ran 520 with the Cannondale, we just went to an industrial supply house n town and they ordered and cut the keyway, etc. Cost about $20ea for the hardened steel gears. |

Hi Brian,
I have just changed over to a 520 chain and I bought the 40mm carrier from Ian Williams Tuning in Australia. His email is iwt@iwt.com.au . Johnny West and Steve Tillman swear by the 520 for the RS/TZ's. Riley Will does not seem to have a problem with the 428 for the BRC, but they can run much larger diameter sprockets than us so it is easier on the chain. I could barely get a weekend out of a Regina, so we stepped up.
See Ya,

| No need to go overseas. Buy American! I had Kenny Deutsch in Hallandale, FL make some 520 sprockets for me that fit a standard Paul Martin brake hub. What can be easier than that? Besides the size the 520 chain is a lot heavier than 428 but it does hold up better. I agree with the bike guys and prefer EK X-Ring Chain. Suck it up and buy a 20 or 50 foot roll. Its a LOT cheaper that way. |
