Do we need a spec fuel rule?
My sole concern is cost. In my area VP C-12 is going for $8.60 per gal. and MR-8 is about $12.00 a gal. Track fuel you don't know what your getting from track to track. I have been using Turbo Blue 110 for years and only costs $3.70 per gal.
I understand that fuel costs this summer will be upward of $2.45 per gal. for our cars & trucks. So I need to cut costs any way I can.
What is your opinion on this subject? _________________ 2-G.P. Karts / 2-GFK TM K9B

Frank,
no we do not need a spec fuel. we address the fuel issue when we started the rules for the season. If you wan to run a fuel and it passes teck, all well and good. No one is telling you to run the $12.00 a gallon stuff.

Quote from the USSC rules;
11. Fuel: Gas and oil. Legal fuels are:
Track Fuel
VP C11
VP C12
VP MR8
VP Motorsport 109 (unleaded)
Fuels will be sampled from the carburetor and sent to a lab to determine legality. Any competitor found running illegal fuel will be banned from the series for 1- year.
Maybe I should of said Spec (Fuels). _________________ 2-G.P. Karts / 2-GFK TM K9B |

Along these lines I think I could get a pretty good deal for all of us on VP stuff. One of my buddies started working as a distributor here in denver, he has already gotten me 2 50 gallon drums. If anyone has interest I can bring the fuel to the race and you could purchase there. Let me know and I'll get specific with brands/pricing. Thanks!

| Why would you run anything other than MR8 as long as that is allowed?? It's liquid hp. |

Frank,
run your turbo blue 110, you will be fine, it meters right around C11 and C12, it's not a specialty fuel so you're ok, just about any leaded race fuel with 2.5% oxygen or less is ok and will not meter higher than the MR8, MR8 was picked to set the bar for leaded fuels and 109 for unleaded fuels. |

Hi Frank,
We are following the AMA's fuel testing procedure. They do not dip the tank, they have specified fuels allowed and if someone has an issue with what someone else is claiming they are using, a fuel sample will be taken and sent to a lab to know exactly if it's what the competitors is claiming to use.
The intent is to allow good racing fuel designed around 2-strokes, that is why VP was selected. We are not going to be fuel Nazis, but if a protest arises we will send it out to the lab.
Your Citgo fuel is going to be vary similar to the track gas and should pose no problem, unless your adding a bunch of nitromethane to it. If someone has a problem with your fuel, just give me the spec sheet and I'll send it to the lab w/ a sample.
Personally I do not want a bunch a protesting racers. None of us are getting rich doing this. We are not gonna earn a ride at the Indy 500 if we win. We do it because we like the sport and we like the guys in the sport. Let's keep this year fun and friendly and have a good time with each other.
Peace ,

Sorry Frank,
I thought the leaded fuel was legal, reguardless of what brand it was. I am a VP dealer if you have an intrest. You are right it is a bit more expensive. I still think you can run the other fuel I.E. Track leaded type. I think there may be a misprint. J.R can you help here? _________________ Johnny West/West Racing |

Thank you all for you replys.
I'm just out to have fun this year and support the series. Most likely I will be the one in the back of the pack. But you will see me smiling in my helmet as you go by.
The bug has bittin me hard this year. I can't wait until April.
See you all then,
