Does anyone know the new names and compound "rankings", information... I'm assuming (the website doesn't show the new compounds...)
YGA
YGB
YHC
YGK
YDS
Anyone know anything about the YHC and YGK? I've seen a post about the YGK... looks favorable! |

| I'm still trying to find out the difference between YFC and YGC. I think they just change the letters. The power of suggestion does the rest. |

I've heard that the IKF rules in 2002 will specify YHCs in classes that used YGCs in 2001. Does anyone know if this in fact will happen?
We recently ran YHCs in place of YGCs and found them to be harder, have stiffer sidewalls and produce less grip even at lower pressures.
The diameter of the 4.5 YHCs are larger than the YGCs and the 6.0s are smaller than the YGCs.
Does this sound like a reasonable substitute? Is this normal?

Every three years, CIK homologates tires. This means that all kart tire manufacturers submit new tires for the next three year homologation period. Following is a summary of the changes to Bridgestones kart tire line-up: (durometer readings are in ()'s, your reading may vary by +/-5 points)
YGC(50)-->'YHC USA'(53)
YGB(46)-->YHB(46)
YGA(42)-->YHA (42)
YGP(38)-->YHP (46)(rain tire)
YGX(41)Replaced YEX in late 2000
YGK(53)Rotax Max spec tire
YGR(46)Rotax Max spec rain tire
YDS(68)No change currently planned
The 'YH' series of 4.50's will all be on a new casing, designated 'DR8C'.
The 'YHC USA' compound is 'spec'd' in many series. It is harder than the YGC that it replaces and should have greater longevity. Of course, this comes at the expense of grip (which is relative in a spec tire class).
We'll have more detailed information (including availability) posted shortly on our website.

| We were at Adams Track today and saw the empire karts factory team testing YHC tires. They had scales out and were working on their setups. On my watch it looks like they have figured out these new tires. Their lap times were better than group on YGC's. There chassis tuner for sure knows what he's doing. |

I have recently raced and practiced on the new YGK. The majority of my experience has been on the YDS/YBN. I like the the new YGK. They seem to be wearing very little and definitely provide more grip then the YDS. They are a little slick though when you go out on a fresh set like the YDS. It only takes a couple of turns and they are griping like a big dog. They are a very nice ccomprimise to the YDS and YGC. |
