When people ask you why you race....what do you tell them? Is it the danger? Speed? Competition? |

The roar of the crowds in the stands, the weekends at the Playboy Mansion, the huge endorsement contracts, seeing my face on a box of Cheerios, the Sean Robbins action figures, the Lear Jet, the awe and respect of my friends and relatives...
(Please don't wake me up, this dream is pretty good!)
Seriously, the camaraderie, meeting people from different areas and different walks of life, the chance to run at tracks you only see on TV (a benefit of long track racing), getting to tinker with the kart, the chance to compete and do something more exciting that chasing a little white ball through the weeds, (and getting to claim motor builders and kart shop owners as "dependents" on my income taxes)... |

I like to tell people that it's the way it goes if you want to get into cars. Starting point of the ladder system, so this is where I'm starting.

I race karts, there ya go I've said it. That's the only reason I race karts, just so I can go around and tell everyone I'm a racer, I don't even like karts. You know what really pisses me off though, those people who sit back in their chairs in later life and say one of the following things.
- I could have gone racing ya know!
- I should have gone racing, I probably would have done quite well.
- I was going to race at one time.
- I could have done that.
I didn't want to become one of those people and I decided to go and actually do it. People don't understand what kind of racing I do. Some think I race fun karts, some even think I race bumper cars, some people think we race in the back yard for giggles. I do none of these, I race karts !

Right now I would have to say it's the people. Don't make friends easy, but the people I have had the priviledge to meet have been people I count as friends. |

Bill hit the nail on the head IMO.
It's fun.
And the minute it stops being fun is the day I sell the kart and everything associated with it. Frankly, when I see some people at the race track, I wonder why they bother. They could stay home, save the money and have the same arguments.

Was a childhood's dream to be a race car driver someday. Didn't expect that it would come true. Thanks to Karting... I am my own race boss
The cost of entry is what makes it most attractive...but it all boils down to the fun factor. Bang for the buck.

| Yeah, it was my childhood dream too. Karting has some similar dynamics to the other loves of my life. Sometimes it tells me I'm the best. The next day going thru a corner I can't control it like I need too.I'll get mad and won't look at it for a couple days.It just wasn't fulfilling MY needs. But like true love, I go back cuz there's nothin like hearing those words.I just love go-karts.Especially being in a 6 kart draft on a long track, it's like a 3 part story that unfolds all around you, overdosing your senses to the point that I can't stop talking about it for 3 days. My best friends were met in the draft. You can learn alot about a guy in 30 mins of bump drafting.Selfish,forgiving,kind,hatred,stupid,naieve,impatient,awesome,killer,loser,winner.Bye. |

the thrill and sensation of speed 1/2 inch off the ground is awesome and almost everyone you meet at the track ends up being your friend |

| Rich, you forgot to mention what a professional corner worker you are. I kept looking, hoping, begging for some type of hand signal or clue as to where the 2nd place kart was... But you kept turning your back on me... GREAT JOB! As for why I do this? For me, Karting is all about BANG for the buck. But long after the competition is over, it will be the freindships that I'll remember. |
