Hairline Crack in Plastic Gas Tank

I notice a very, very small hairline crack in the plastic gas tank on by KART right where the tank mounts to the KART frame. It is starting to leak fuel. Is there a proper and safe way to repair a crack in a gas tank without buying a new one?

You can try PC-7 or JB weld but, start looking for a new tank.

Take it from a crew chief for a large team. The only solution is a new tank.

Think about the risk, 100plus octane fuel in your lap.

Average response time to a fire at a kart facility is measured in minutes. Time to burn through your suit is measured in seconds, Time to burn off key portions of your body is measured in aprox two minutes.

Cost of a new tank less than $50.

We have used "Duramix 4030" (a flexible plastic repair product) on several occasions to mend small tank cracks-----its not a great permenent fix but it will sure easily get ya' thru a weekend if your in a pinch........its a two part mix and can be found where they sell auto body repair products.
