Just a rookie question here. 99 YZ on my kart. The last two times I have fired it off, excess fuel is coming out of the overflow tube on the bowl of my carb. It's a Mikuni, but why I am experiencing this problem? Before I pull the carb off, I would like some insight from anyone that may have had this problem. Thanks for the help.

Kenny:

Most everyone I know is running an overflow return to the tank. Most fuel pumps deliver more volume than the carb or engine need, especially at idle. Remember the engines come from gravity-fed systems (Motorcycles), and don't see the pressure normally generated with the pumps on the Karts.

Check around at the track with some of the other guys as to how they route their overflow systems. Ours run from the overflow pipe at the carb on our RM 80 to the fuel tank at the top. When the engine idles the fuel can be seen flowing back to the tank.
