My daughter is interested in racing karts. Who manufactures helmets for her size? Bell - Simpson?

| Tim, When My 2 kids started karting, we went to a couple of local motorcycle and kart shops and tried on helmets. Yes bell and Simpson made helmets in their size, but we found that every manufacturer's sizing was just a little bit different. One brand would fit in a small, and the other would fit with an xs as the internal padding is different from maker to maker. IMHO, as long as the helmet is snell approved, you have good protection. |

Proper fit is of the utmost importance. When my son started out, we started with Shoei, but it never quite fit right. Then, we went to our Simpson store, we selected the style and the they helped with the approximate size, and then, they determined the amount of proper padding that needed to be added, sent it to the factory and when it came back it was a perfect fit.
We have since had that helmet relined once and it was like new again. When we did the reline, we went back to the store and they helped again to determine how much padding was required.
We will be deciding this winter whether to reline it again, or, if we need to get a bigger helmet. one benefit of having it relined is that they also reinspect the helmet. It went in as a Snell 95 and came back as a Snell K2000. |
