I received word today that Bob Burris: founder of Burco, (Mike Burris' dad, Kurt Burris' grandfather) - "...lost his battle with Mother Nature" on Tuesday morning.
Bob Burris ("Mr. Burris" to me... regardless of how long I knew him) was probably the most soft-spoken, nicest individual I ever knew in karting. Always helpful, always smiling, always polite... a "gentleman" through and through. "Mr. Burris" helped me out with advice and various parts very early in my karting career... and was always helpful to anyone that crossed his path.
My sincerest condolences to the entire Burris family.

Mr. Burris was a major part of karting, that has brought it to where it stands today.
My condolences go out to Mike and the entire Burris family. |

Pete, thanks for letting us know. I remember Mr. Burris as a very sweet natured man always with a generous good nature and infectious smile. Certainly one of our true pioneers who left us with a legacy which continues to give to our sport through his sons and grand sons.
My heart felt sympathy goes out to the Burris Family and all those close to him. |

I knew Bob Burris from our lunches together with the "Geritol Gang".
If there are people out there who plan to do a story, etc on him, I do have a very nice picture of Bob, Mike and Kurt Burris from the lunch last April.
Harpur Motorsports sends our most sincere condolances to the Burris Family, and to all of the friends and employees who will certainly miss one of kartings legendary members. |

Dear Karting Community,
Our sport has lost one of the truly "Good Guys"
In Addition to a Gentleman, Bob was one of a few key individuals responsible for where Karting is today. His ethic and commitment as a familyman and businessman was second to none.
He will be missed, but forever in our hearts and memories.
Our thoughts and prayers to Bob's wife, Mike, Kurt, Derek, and family. |

Tiger and I met Bob at a speedway race at Rialto a couple of years ago. He drove down to watch his great grandkids race. Both of us were impressed with his gentle manner and his friendly, genuine nature.
Tiger and I send our condolences to the entire Burris family.
