Anyone running a Trackmagic Dragon with a Leopard motor ?

My crew spent all last week making a Leopard fit onto a 2002 TM Dragon. I was starting to regret not owning an Italian chassis until we finally made some headway.

Major problems with fit:

1)Non existent tab for H20 pump....solution: had to use Leopard suppplied bracket, heated and bent it until the pulley and belts appeared straight.

2)Radiator contacted seat stay bolt at top of seat...solution: added a much larger spacer to lower tab mounting point.

3)Moving radiator outward necessitated cutting of left side pod and removal of mounting tab for side pod.

Has anyone else used this combo and had similar issues ?

What chassis was it, Im not familar with Trackmagic, but I think there is an 80cc and 100cc Dragon, if its on an 80cc chassis, you may be in trouble.

The Leopard would fit on your Ital Kart perfectly, they're made to precision with Parilla motors.

Your fitting issues are not un-common with many brands of chassis, not just Trackmagics and not just Leopard motors. In many respects the Leopard package is one of the most complete, easiest to install TAG's available. Each motor package / chassis combination is unique and there is really no such thing as one size fits all.

The left side clearance is dependent on the size seat installed and type of bodywork being used. The larger the seat, the less space for mounting the radiator. Cutting the side pods is not unusual and you are better off allowing plenty of clearance between the radiator / seat / sidepod. If there is not clearance you are at risk of bending the radiator (and not the brackets) in the event of a sidepod contact.

Wildkart makes a waterpump bracket that will easily accomodate any angle cross-beam. The bracket can be turned to ensure perfect alignment with the axle pulley and is less than $30.00.

I have a Dragon that I mounted a Leopard on in about 4 to 5 hours. (not trying to be a jerk when I say that) Depending on seat size, it is possible to get the radiator in there without cutting the pod. I'd be happy to take a picture for you if you like. To my best knowledge (and someone will prove me wrong I'm sure) the 80cc and 100cc chassis is the same. Mine was purchased for 100cc use and has 80cc shifter mounting brackets. Your issues were not out of the ordinary. After putting together a couple of earlier 125cc shifters where nothing ever fit, these aren't too bad.
