| I broke in my new Leopard last week but noticed that it was blowing and dripping quite a bit of oil from the flex and pipe end, especially noticeable from the flex. I'm using Brendzall at 16:1 by the book. I reseated the pipe and wrapped it today, but still it seaps oil from the flex even before the engine is warmed up. High and low on the carb are set to 1 1/4. Is this normal? I noticed that the other new Leopards at the track last week did not have this problem. They too were running Blendzall. Bill Thomas-St. Louis. |

This happens.
There probably isn't anything "wrong" with your motor.
Leopards - at least the ones I've been around - are always a bit dirty like that.
Now that said, you could be running a bit too rich. Check your plug to see how you're burning. It's been awhile, but I think 1.25 on the low might be a just a tad too fat for that motor. try it at 1 turn or just a hair under
If you're running Blendzall castor you'll see a little spitting because of that. Most of the Leopard owners I know only used castor to break in the motor and then switched to a high-quality synthetic. Mainly because the synth burns cleaner than the castor.

My first time out with my leopard also blew lots of oil out of the flex and I was told it's normal,so I wouldn't worry.I was told by JIM RUSSEL JR.to break it in rich with both needles set at 1.25, so after it's ran a few laps the amount of oil will decrease. |
