Ride it hard and fast and ignore the screams.

Oh wait...

From the operator's manual:

They recommend richer mixture fuel, but with the changes lately, I'm not sure what that should be now.

Start the motor and run (on track) changing load and engine speed up to 7,500. Then run it another 15 up to 9,500.

Load and speed means run up to prescribed rpm, lift completely down to 5,000 and accelerate again.

Don't run the motor on the stand.

See you Saturday!

Glenn

Oh, we took it easy at Pepper's. Just one beverage for all of us.

Andy did try to talk me into the Continental Room. Surprising as he was wimpering about being sick and having relatives in town BEFORE he started drinking.

It's amazing what that Absolut will do.

From an official communication earler last year, the following breakin is
recommended. It was dated 4.15.03.

When servicing an engine and replacing the piston with a new style, uncoated piston make certain that the piston-to-cylinder clearance is 0,035 - 0,060mm as measured per the Repair Manual. ROTAX recommends a piston-to-cylinder clearance of 0,050mm as the engine will be less susceptible to critical moments during the breaking in procedure.

For all engines with uncoated pistons, the coolant temperature at the break in procedure is very important. Make sure that the engine coolant temperature reaches at least 55 º C by covering the radiator with tape, if necessary.

Make sure to use a size of main jet that will create a richer air/fuel mixture than that prescribed for the conditions where you operate the engine (see calibration chart in the Operator’s Manual).

For running in of an engine, always operate the engine under varying load as described below.

For the first ten liters of fuel, the fuel to oil ratio must be 33:1.

ROTAX has added a revised WARNING sticker placed on the intake manifold as of today, to read as follows:

WARNING: Running in has to be done at the race track as following:

15 minutes up to 7,500 rpm; 15 minutes up to 9,500 rpm.

All the time vary the rpm as following: Open the accelerator fully until the engine reaches the rpm mentioned above - lift off the accelerator completely - let the rpm come down to 5,000 rpm and accelerate again.

For the first ten liters of fuel, use a mixing ratio of 33:1.

Make sure that the coolant temperature reaches a minimum 55°C (130°F) at cold ambient temperature radiator needs to get partly covered by tape.
