Well I made a big mistake. After being out of karting for 20 years, I traveled from Florida to my home town of Rock Island Ill. To visit my brothers (They returned to karting last year) and to race in the Rock Island Grand Prix. You guessed it, I got hooked again. I raced for almost 20 years and it was really great to get "back in the saddle". Mama has given her blessing for my son and I to go racing (boy she doesn't know what she is getting into does she?) I am now shopping for all equiptment and would like to know of any quality Kart shops in the Orlando area. |

Bob, I hear the devil laughing.
I don't know of anything in Orlando, but check out these two sites, based in Florida. Both Chuck and Bill run great operations.

P.S. Thanks for finding us! Did you see the rig at Rock Island? |

I don't know how far he is from Orlando, but Chuck at Race Arsenal is in Florida, and is great! Very good customer service and some of the best prices I have found. I buy a lot of stuff from him and I am in Colorado.
his website is www.racearsenal.com and his phone number is 904-241-1170

| LOL, I was just a the Arsenal website They are a little ways from me, but I will probably make the trip in the next couple of weeks. TSracing is a bit closer. I will also be checking them out. I hope to find a close shop for support. I mostly need coaching in the chassis set up area. I have pretty well decided on a Margay chassis (I had all the models from the New Breed to the Concept)Not to mention a King Kart late 60's and even a Fox in the early 60's. I will probably run a Yamaha to start with then perhaps go to a Shifter. |

Bob -
you may want to consider a Rotax Max kart rather than a Yamaha. Won't have to rebuild it anywhere near as often (50 hrs), quiet, and more powerful. Plenty of people to race with.
just a thought

Oh Bob! I went through this a couple of years ago. I too, have raced over 20 years and after taking a "break" jumped back in with both feet. Just to let you know, if you had been out a good while, things have changed. Euro karts are more popular and classes are more structured for the Yamaha or Briggs then ever. After spending one year back in the Yamaha classes, I felt the best move was to move to consider Roto-Max or Shifters. I chose shifters due to the popular counts at race events. I feel after spending time in the kart, I have chose something that will be satisfactory for me. The Max class it getting very popular and I am sure in the next few years it will be as common as Briggs/Yamaha is now. I do a lot of Business with TS Racing in Florida and have found them to be very proffessional and helpful when called upon. I am sure their staff will be as helpful getting starting. Speaking for myself, I have went back to roadracing and luckily the racing fraternity has been great in re-introducing to racing. Good Luck! |

| Bob, try Hi-Speed Products in Altamonte. Call Chuck West. He can probably help ya out with anything ya need. We live in Deltona are in there at least once a week getting this and getting that. He's a great guy and very helpful. Also runs the Southern Road Racing Series. |

Hey Bob, I didn't get a chance to say good bye before you left. It was a fun time....hehe. Might have to talk to you know who and pull the trailer south for a week.
