For those of you interested in giving some input to a real live *off duty* IKF director in person, who will take your feedback to the IKF BOD meeting in Oct, while enjoying a simply delightful meal, here is your chance!
Sunday Sept. 9, 2001
Think Cafe
1 pm
302 West 5th Street
San Pedro, CA
310 519-3662
I need to know how many are coming, so they can reserve tables for us, either indoors or outdoors on the patio. Please post here if you are planning on coming. Also, if you can give me an idea of what you want to discuss, so I can bring any paperwork needed to refer to at the lunch, it would be appreciated (ie: roadrace classes, sprint stuff, etc).
*** Note: This is just a friendly discussion lunch, where we can all come to an idea of where the different types of people in our organization stand on different issues. I wanna have a GOOD time meeting with my fellow karters ***
I hope to see you there!

Sounds like a great idea. I will be there and my area of concerns are the sprint programs.
Thank you

So far, I think the list is Ed Llorca, Deb Kuntze, John Burgess and maybe Jeff.
I know there were more of you who emailed saying you wanted this talk time, so get your names on this list so I can make a RSVP |

| Julie's coming also. I am working on John for his technical knowledge, but he says he needs to unload and work on a sprinter for CJ. |

Jeff will probably make that decision for himself.
Actually, I will be somewhere in the Rockies at that point, so, tis a good thing you shall be free to attend, though a bad thing at the expense of your trip.

Have heard from Julie K the Governor of So. Calif. for IKF and she will also be attending.
Let your other IKF friends who may not have the internet know, so they can call me and let me know they want to attend too. |

Gary, It would be great to have you there on the 9th! Now if we could get Chaz, Don and Jack-maybe we could get something done!

Hey Deb
I won't be there (sort of a long drive for lunch ), but a potential subject of discussion for you:
Last weekend at Spokane, Jack Lehmann had a similar discussion amoung the road race drivers after Saturdays racing. We liked the basic road race class structure that the Browns recently sent out but agreed on some "improvements" (I'm assuming Jack sent something out about our comments). BUT, the one thing we ALL agreed on was to get rid of the heat races in the 80cc and 125cc moto classes and go to a simple 30 minute winner take all final (ah, sort of like they do in sprints).

I have seen the list. One comment right now is that I am not in favor of ADDING more classes to a 22 class structure!
I would have to hear from the groups that run the heats, how they feel about one 30 minute race. It does align the classes more to road race, but the reason they have been 2 heat races was to draw more from other venues.
I also don't like diluting spec classes (sportsman). Pretty soon the intent of this class will be totally out the window and you have another dead class on your schedule. Same will happen with the addition of more sprint classes that are too similar. 2 Jr. Sprint classes? Okay we have a junior in each class instead of two in one class.
In my opinion, I don't think things are going to change much for RR for 2002. The committee hasn't gotten together to hash anything out, there are too many good and bad ideas floating around. (Lot's of faxing, a few phone calls, but no words from 2 of the members.) Also only one letter has been forwarded to me from IKF that pertains to RR. Sad, but this will definitely not help RR any by delaying another year.
I look forward to the luncheon with Deb, and feel that all IKF should do this throughout the year to keep up on opinons and ideas and get a "feel" for the karting community.
OK I am off my soap box now.

I got that fancy schedule /etc the middle of last week. I was told it was a work in progress, and at the time I received it, not all of the RR Committee members had yet given their input.
All I know is this: Our organization is governed under the proposal system, although some do not agree with this system, I feel it is a safeguard for the members.
I PERSONALLY believe that if the members have not had a chance to give their input on something that should go through proposal then I do not have the ethical right to vote yes on it. I was elected by the members, and I MUST vote in a way that reflects the members wishes. If I don't know what their wishes are, how can I pass something as major as this type of issue?
For now, I will sit back and see what the Road Race Committee, Jack Lehman, Deb Kuntze, Gary Robinson, Chaz Lemmon and Don Holmboe recommend at the Oct. meeting in Seattle.
I look forward to discussing this, among other things at the Lunch on the 9th... How many more of you are coming?
