Can anyone give me some information on which Data-Loging system is the best. I know that PI Research is very good, are there any other systems that do the same things, and can be downloaded to a laptop?

| There are many good companies out there. AIM Sportsystems seems to keep upgrading their products. Pi is also good data logging equipment. (though quite expensive) |

The Aim Sports My-Cron is the only way to go in Karting systems. We have tried all of the big name systems and for useable info, excellent tech support and fair pricing I will never use anything else. There are many models available so decide what functions are important to you and contact your local dealer.

We have tested the new products from Digitron and we found that the are exceptionally good.
The largest benefit is that the leads for the most part were the reliable leads that we have been using for years. I have some leads that are five years old and on their third chassis.
We all know that the price of the datalogger is not the issue but the rate at which the dataloggers eat up leads is the issue as some of the companies get in excess of $60 per lead.
Try Digatron for some information before you make a purchase. |

There may be a new Data Acquisition unit on the market around the first of the year that has more channels than a PI, track mapping, Mil-Spec durability, properly shielded and costs less than a Mychron.
Thats all I will say at this time. |

We have had the good fortune this year to be selected to test the new Digatron devices. We did on track testing for three days at New Hampshire International Speedway and we tested akmost every kart and motor combination. We tested briggs stock through open motors with some really hot coils, we tested Yahama, Comer, Jaco, Parilla, Komet,
2 cycles, we tested Honda and Yahama 125 shifters, we tested an 80 CC Honda shifter.
In the testing we mixed new and old leads used only the old leads that were on karts, we mounted the instrument correctly and we just attached it to the frame rails using wire ties to induce added vibration and shock.
We then took the instruments into the dyno room for several days and we coiled up the leads and put them either next to or in contact with the various ignitions. We mounted the instrument to simulate an instrument being mounted on the back of the seat and next to or in contact with the motor.
We added and removed chassis grounds as we did each test. I could not induce one failure.
Issues that did occur were when we put the instruments on the karts we made the driver do the set up. We gave the driver the factory prepared instructions. As you would expect almost no person over the age of 15 years read the instructions. All of the kids read the instructions and got it correct the first time Only one of 15 adults read the instructions and did the set up the first time. |
