What about last year again, where Alonso beat Hamilton with a worse car than the McLaren? How is that comparison any more valid or less valid than yours?

It's less fair because we all remember that many of Hamiliton's failures in 2012 had nothing to do with his driving. When Hamiliton and Alonso were in identical cars, it was all about their driving.

Remember, it's been literally years since Alonso has had a mechanical DNF (both DNF's last year were due to contact). While Lewis had a few sub-par drives last year, his car (and pit crew) let him down repeatedly.

I've been more impressed with Alonso as a driver the last two seasons than I was when he won his championships - the Ferrari really wasn't as good a car as the McLaren or Red Bull, especially early season. But I still don't like him - I think he's an arrogant cheater (and I'm a long time Ferrari fan).

Oh, my picks:

1) Vettel
2) Webber
3) Alonso

Hey David Cole - how about getting one (or more) of the e-karting sponsors to donate some prizes?

Exactly, it has been years since he has had finishes that were not from teammates doing things to improve his results. This is why I cannot like the guy. He cannot get the results based purely on his performance. Someone else always has to do something for him. I hope to see Massa out performing him this year.

Rolling Eyes

Besides Massa moving out of his way at Hockenheim and taking the transmission penalty in Austin, what else?

I'm sure his 4 wins at McLaren were from Lewis "helping" him.

lets go back to 2007, hungary.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWJCGInsVUs&feature=player_embedded#!

Even with Hamilton being McLaren's "child" they still had all there egg's in Alonso's basket, often relying on him for the championship. However, Hamiltons driving had proven its self many times.

I still think Alonso is over rated.

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

Not sure I'll ever not have a hard time with Alonso stuffing Massa going into the pits in China a couple years back. Felipe is glad to have his job and I'm cool with that but...

How fast we forget. Michael Schumacher intentionally rammed Jacques Villeneuve in 1997 to prevent him from taking the title, where's the contempt for him?

2007, McLaren excepts documents from Ferrari employee Nigel Stepney. They are fined $100 Million. In 2008 they go onto win the championship. As far as I'm concerned, all of McLarens 2007 wins should have been disqualified.

In 2008 Renault finished fourth in the Championship and Alonso finished fifth, hardly as fine tuned as McLarens cheating. Piquet was a complete vagrant anyways. He should have never been in F1.

It's also laughable to assume that drivers who are in the same team are afforded the same opportunities. Yes, Barrichello should have beat Schumacher all those years... give me a break. Here's a hint, just because teams don't talk about team orders, that doesn't mean they don't exist. Specifically, it is impossible to know what each machine is like beneath that skin.

That photo of Alonso giving the finger is hilarious, even Massa is laughing.

The difference between Alonso and Schuey is that Schuey's transgressions were argueably 'spur of the moment' reactions. Alonso's tend to show signs of premeditation and planning (no one will ever convince me Alonso wasn't in on the Piquet deal at Singapore).

So? He's wired like Prost and no one seems to have a problem with Pro--- oh wait.

Funny how when you drive with reckless passion like Senna, you're a hero but when you're calculating and ruthless, you're a villain. Humans, pft.

1.- Alonso
2.- Perez
3.- Grosjean

Alonso was voted best driver by F1 Engineers last year,,,, with a crappy car and fighting for the championship.......

Second Place was all him, not the car.....!!

Senna a hero for his driving in spite of his occasional lapses simply because he showed us, time and time again that he was the best in the world. The things that Prost and Alonso do show us that even they don't believe that they are the best.
