I did not get a chance to make it to the premier but did get a chance to talk with John about 3 am Friday night. He was happy with the Film and mentioned a few bugs with the presentation.

Now that we are close to the release date, what ideas does the community have to spread the word beyond the borders of the Karting community?

First thing is forward a copy to Forrest Lucas, sponsors everything under the sun, financing for millenia, owns Mav TV.....

Forrest Lucas is a great idea. I think we'll be able to put this in front of a lot of major players, if only because it's a cool motorsports film.

Couldn't make the show but as a Kickstarter contributor I'm looking forward to being able to get a hold of it or whenever it is released buying one.

I am also proud to say I was a contributor. How is going to go as far as our copies? Is it a digital download or are we going to be getting a DVD? I am very excited to get mine. I also plan on using it to help get a track built in our part of the country.

I was one of the very first too, somewhere in the first ten. I only chipped in $25 but figured if I could do it, there's no reason why others couldn't. My wife was like "WTF is this $25 Amazon charge" haha.

According to John, Kickstarter contributors will be emailed a special link for their download on March 15th, following this the movie will become available for purchase in iTunes on April 1st. I think netflix is under consideration at a later stage, but I would guess John hasn't had time to look into whats involved for that just yet. That would be super cool.

I was able to attend the premiere and am proud to have contributed too.

The movie does a good job promoting and introducing Karting to the general public. It was not what I expected as I thought it was going to follow a similar format to Racing Dreams, or what it was described on Kickstarter.
The photography and editing is great and the interviews give personality like Rob mentioned.
I wish it had more stories and anecdotes like the Rock Island story and video to accompany it.

Other than that I can’t wait to get my hands on it and show it to as many people as I can.

Haven't seen it yet, but that in my opinion is a good thing. Racing Dreams was very good, but another film about karting being subservient to the aspiration of racing completely different vehicles would have been a let down.

Can't wait to see it!

I'm just going to come right out and say it...... Racing Dreams was one of the most cringe worthy things I have ever watched, and anyone I've talked to face-to-face has agreed with me.
I'm sorry if that offends anyone but lets just say it wasn't my cup of tea.

I also think it is a good thing it wasn't like Racing Dreams but the description of the "Story" on Kickstarter made me expect something like that.

I have no problem with Racing Dreams as it was a different kind of documentary. I wish though that it had a little more stories not so much talk how karting is this and that. Even though I know it is difficult to capture the stories as they happen, and know what what is going to make the cut I though it was missing a little bit more of that.

I need to watch it again and more closely. My opinion may change as this was just my initial perception.

I haven't seen it Become One, but I like the approach of the Moto films which cover Motocross, which I am guessing Become One is similar. They 'document' motocross, but in a way that actually focusses on the beauty of the machine and sport, rather than trying to follow a story arc which usually ends quite predictably. It's so easy to follow the 'human' story, but sometimes the kart itself IS the story. Smile

I guess I have to say that it wasn't quite what I expected either. I expected more of a story and less of an infomercial. Parts definitely felt like paid advertising (bondurant and honda).

The cinematography was beautiful (wish the screen wasn't glitched throughout!) and the video looked very professional. I definitely enjoyed it and I think everyone involved should be very proud of what they produced. But, if I am being honest, the story telling could have been stronger. For the budget though? It was amazing.

Can't wait for my copy to get to show others.

I kinda like the infomercial route Smile

Like, why such a demand for a 'story line' which we've already seen 100x before? A story line which always inherently gets distorted to fit editorial demands.

Mind you, I'd happily watch two hours of just purely amazing footage of karts. Can't wait to watch this Smile

I showed the official trailer to a group of non-racers/non-karters last night - they were quite impressed! I think the movie/documentary will positively enhance the image and knowledge of karting to the general population, provided they get exposed to it.

You know this all started with this Shofner video of SWRC action:

Still my favorite Shofner film and the one I show folks when they ask what karting is all about. Can't wait to see the BecomeONE work!

Shofner has begun distributing the digital copies for those who jumped on board for the Kickstarter program. A copy race tracks have also hosted premieres of the movie, including the Miller Motorsports Park. If you got your copy or have watched the movie, be sure to post your review here.

More info on when the film will be available to the public will be coming shortly. Thanks.
