I am new to karting and have a crg daytona from like 1999 mated to a kx80 motor. The seat is too small for me and I need to know how to go about fitting a new seat. I measure the smallest inside point (at ribs) of my seat and it is 12 inches. Do seats mount universally or do I need a specific make and model? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Right 1st step is to find a seat that fits you. Chest with rib vest on and hips. So go to the local kart shop and test sit in a few.

Then have the kart shop install. From what I gather (I'm pretty new to this as well). But seat position is Extremely important.

Most used seat are pretty holed up. Great to play with to get your balance right. then get a new seat.

rib vest is usually enough padding

Although I picked up a sweet deal on a Zoombang shirt and gave it a try this weekend. Wow!!!! I really like it.

Thanks Joe. One more question. How far can you angle the seat back to buy yourself some legroom? How muc legroom can it buy you with lets say another 1/2 inch- 1 inch spacer?

That's not going to work. your butt will not move much by leaning the seat back, infact it will most likely move your butt forward by leaning seat back. However it will change the wieght bias bunches.

Back to have the kart shop install your seat or find a real good chart for your chassis. 99 Heron ????? send it to me too.

It's more important to put the seat exactly where it needs to be for balance. the leg room and arm length will work themselves out from there.
adjust pedals or extended front porch.
