My son is moving up from cadet to Yamaha Jr Can. We have a Top
Kart Chassis with a MyChron 4 2T on it. I also have two MyChron 3
Gold units from the cadet karts.
Right now I can get 2 temps, RPM, Speed and accelerometer and I still
have the cable to connect it to the computer.

To get all the data with the MyChron 4 2T that it looks like I would have to
get the eBox Gold and the data key at a minimum.

The question is "is it worth it"?

Also what would the GPS module bring?

Mark,
I'm not the expert you probably need, but IMO you don't need to upgrade to an M4. If you have a need to get the M4, I'd get the 2T then consider getting the GPS module instead of the expansion box. A new GPS05 will come with a data hub. This would allow to have RPM, axle speed, EGT and GPS. The GPS would give you a way to review your driver"s lines around the track. Could then see the fastest way round the track. You can track map with the GPS and even overlay the GPS traces over a Google map of the track. Another plus for GPS would be longitudinal acceleration. The M3's and M4's only have lateral g's.
When I purchased the expansion box, it came with a data key.

Good Luck!

The 3 and 4 will let you compute linear acceleration as a math channel. I agree with Tony, however that unless you are running a GPS (or lambda), the three is probably all you need.
