I find that my batteries go dead way faster than they should. Has anyone check the current draw when 'off'? I suspect that 'off' isn't truly so.

I was thinking of putting in a switch to disconnect the batteries. Would that kill the memory?

Thanks

Ray

Memory is flash/NV so if you cut the power it will keep everything in there. There might be a parasitic loss of sorts but before you go putting switch in there, have you been using Li batteries? If not, I would suggest that first.

If your running a GPS with no outside battery source, you can expect high consumption rate.

Get some 9v lithium batteries. They'll last longer and they're lighter so they'll improve your C.o.G. Laughing

Seriously, though I used these I was quite happy with them

Ray there have been several firmware updates to the M4 and at least one of them addressed battery management. You may need to update it if you have a key or send it to us for updating.

I'm not trying to be a smart alec but... Laughing

Make sure to manually turn it off when you come off track or any other time the engine isn't running. While yes, it will turn itself off automatically when it sits without any input (meaning RPM), you can save those few minutes by turning it off yourself.

Also, no need to manually turn it on as it automatically turns on when you start the engine.
