qualify for pre-entry pricing of just $115 for your race entry plus the cost of

Other Important Event Details:
* Track Configuration: We will be running Layout #1 for this event -- CCW with
the 'kink'. Track diagram and other facility info can be found on our
Buttonwillow VENUE INFO page.
* Event Schedule: Move-in starts Thursday afternoon, January 31, and due to
safety reasons the track is not allowing any on-track practice on this day. The
gates will be open all night, as we have arranged for overnight camping and
parking in the pits. Registration opens Friday morning, Feb. 1 at 7am for
check-in and walk-up entries. All-day practice will be 9am-5pm. Saturday race
day will begin at 7:30am with ONE ROUND of practice/warm-ups. Podium and raffle
will directly follow the last main event and tech inspection of the day.
Although a final schedule will be given out at the track, you can see the full
'tentative' schedule posted on our website now.
* Reserved Pit Spots a MUST! We are already SUPER full in the pits! See the
latest pit map posted on the website -- most team managers have reserved pit
spots for their drivers, but if you are still in need, go here to reserve one or
more for just $30/spot: http://www.skusastore.com/product-p/pkc-evt-pitspot.htm
Be sure to give us your top 3 choices, and we'll reconfirm your spot via email
when we have you on the map.
* Overnight Camping: Is available for just $50 for the whole weekend (Thursday
thru Saturday nights). You can also pre-pay thru the online store and pick your
camping spot on the pit map. Otherwise you can pay for camping upon arrival at
the PKC registration desk.
* Hotel Accommodations: We have 2 local motels offering special rates for our
event. See the HOTEL & ACCOMMODATIONS page.
* Competition Rules: All classes must conform to the online SKUSA Rulebook
(and supplemental updates) -- as well as the COMPETITION RULES for our event as
posted on our website.Note: TaG Cadet has important recent rule updates and a
mandatory air filter as described here on our Rulebook page.
MANDATORY RACE ITEMS:
* SKUSA Membership/Racing License: Is required to race. You can apply for your
membership AND register for the race altogether thru our online store at
www.skusastore.com. We will send you an email confirmation of your license
and race number promptly.
* Race Numbers require a Letter Designator: Unless you one of our SKUSA Pro
Tour top 3 champs, you will have to be approved for a unique race number WITH a
letter designator (that identifies where you live). These number/letter combos
are required on all 4 sides of your kart.
* Colored Race Number Panels: Specific colors are mandatory by class. This is a
TECH item! NOTE: The S4 panels are migrating to a lighter green background with
all new orders for 2013. Go here for all panel
specs: http://www.superkartsusa.com/regional/california-pkc/about/race-number-panels.html

* Spec Tires: The spec tires for all classes (except TaG Cadet) are MG-SK
'whites' -- and your RACE tires MUST be purchased from PKC and have the special
2013 PKC stamp. TaG Cadet spec tires are MG-HZ 'reds', and must also be
purchased from PKC if used for competition (can be reused from event to event).
PKC is shipping tires NOW -- both practice and race tires -- or you can order
them for pickup at the track. You may purchase practice tires from any local
vendor of your choice.
* Spec Fuel: Is the VP-MS98, although Rotax drivers are allowed to bring and
use MS93. The spec oil is Motul 2T Kart Grand Prix. You can order your fuel and
oil from PKC, or bring your own. If you are buying it from PKC, please
pre-order it before Jan. 30 thru our online store, as extra quantities may NOT
be available for purchase at the track.
10-day Weather Forecast: We have a 0% chance of rain for our event! But just in
case it does at any of our events, remember we race rain-or-shine, so it's good
to have a set of the spec MG-WT rain tires in your trailer just in case! They
are available to purchase thru our online store at www.skusastore.com.

Championship Points and Prizes: This season's PKC championship is 6 races with
1 drop. There are also BIG prizes on the line! See our points system details and
the prize structure details on our website!

Supernats Reminder: All racers that compete in all PKC races leading up to the
REGISTRATION opening for the Supernats will have a priority entry reservation!

Pro Tour 2013 Update: The SKUSA SpringNationals will be held April 12-14 at the
Musselman Honda Circuit in TUCSON, AZ this year. Keep an eye on our website
for more event details and registration to be open soon.

of events.

Dont forget! For the BEST pricing, PRE-REGISTER FOR THIS PKC ROUND #1 AT

SKUSA's California ProKart Challenge is extremely excited with the highest pre-entry count for any one PKC race since 2006 with just under 140 entries for this weekends 2013 season opener at Buttonwillow!!! The final entry count will likely be higher due to walk up entries which should be close to 10 according to phone calls fielded at the SKUSA office after the online store closed last night which will make the total just about 150 entries!!!!!!!

TaG
TaG C has "blown up" with 22 drivers including National #1 plate holder Hunter Kelly.

TaG J also has 22 drivers including two of the top three National plate holders: #2 Carter Williams & #3 Brenden Baker.

TaG S is the largest class of the whole event with 28 drivers with the furthest driver coming all the way from New York, Mike Giessen. Everyone will be lined up on the fence to watch each of these races!!!

Last, but certainly not least, is TaG M with just under 20 drivers. It continues to grow and provide some of the best racing over the weekend including National #1 plate holder Paul Bonilla.

Spec Honda
S1 has some new faces that have graduated from the S2 ranks creating the largest PKC S1 class ever with a driver making the trek all the way from Oregon, Cam Egger.

S2 continues to be extremely deep and strong with a little under 20 drivers. A few S3 drivers have made the jump to S2 this year plus three of the fastest S4 drivers from last year have taken the plunge into the class to do battle with the "young guns". One S2 "hot shoe" racer is traveling all the way from Texas to join us, Connor Wagner.

S3 is the place where novice shifters get there start. This weekend is no exception with two brand new shifter pilots.

S4, as always, is right up there with one of the biggest shifter classes even with three of the top S4 drivers last year migrating to S2.

The local option class S4M as well as S5 have their biggest classes ever.

The team taking the longest distance award is Team Vemme who is making the long trek all the way from Canada to support eight Vemme team drivers under their tent.

Other teams are making the trip from all over the Southwest!!!

It's clear that the SKUSA class ladder system, the best track workers, the finest tech team and of course Tom & Patti Kutscher have created the best racing series and value in the nation.

This is arguably the largest & deepest level of driving talent ProKart Challenge has ever seen with national caliber talent represented in every class.

There's no doubt that California ProKart Challenge is the place to be for great racing!!!

With this level of turnout for this race make sure to not miss the Pro Tour opener at Tuscon April 12 - 14!!!!

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who attended the opening round of our SKUSA California ProKart Challenge this weekend in Buttonwillow. It was incredible to have 150 drivers and their families in the pit area – the atmosphere was so cool – everybody was having a great time. Patti and I, as well as our staff, do our absolute best to ensure that all of our customers have an enjoyable experience when racing with us, and to those of you who were joining us for the first time, it is our hope that you enjoyed being part of SKUSA.

This weekend in Buttonwillow was like the early days of the ProKart Challenge – people just out at the track for the love of the sport. We could see it in people’s eyes and we heard it in their positive comments. The racing was outstanding and to have the numbers that we did across the board, it was awesome.

We’re going to do it all over again on March 1-2 at Willow Springs, and if you didn’t come out this time, talk with someone who did and hopefully we’ll see you there.

It’s going to be a great year with the California ProKart Challenge, and we’d just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who come out to run with us this weekend!

THANK YOU!!!
