Nice! Good to see some simplicity make a return. Sounds great too!

I just read the rules though.....dyno testing for opens? That has to be the oddest thing ever to be. How has that been working for you guys?
Seems silly to add to ballast karts based on peak HP when the laptimes are a result of the area under the curve, not peak HP. How has that been received? To me i just seems like the top guys can gain advantage by leveraging this, ie tuning for broad power rather than peak and have the extra advantage of running lighter.
Motor protest sheets in a open class? Can of worms there IMO, but if its working for you well and good. I'd understand if there was a lack of fast 100cc direct drive motors around, but there are lots around gathering dust. I could understand a 15-20lb addition for watercooled vs air because of heat soak.

Jim - Stu runs a program that emphasizes fun and comraderie and clean driving instead of cutthroat competition...And from what he said in our phone convo, most of the drivers are "homegrown" and setup is more of a limiting factor than HP... Looks like they were having fun. And made me really miss ICA. Smile I have a DAP T85 sitting here but it's a long drive to CA. Smile

Jim,

Open is a new class for F100 this year. We wanted to create a class that incorporated all of the fast 100cc engine packages currently collecting dust. We considered running ICA only, Super A, JICA only, full open and then finally landed on the dyno idea. The idea is similar to auto racing classes, such as NASA GTS, which is a weight to power class that focuses on peak engine output rather than engine displacement or specific engine specifications. Time will tell if our idea is good. If this dyno idea turns out not to work very well, we will reassess. F100 wants to make an affordable and fast open class and this is the first idea that we are trying. We are hopeful that the dyno testing will help move towards this goal.
