|
|
As the title states, I'm pulling, or at least trying to pull out my spindle bearings. Knocking out the front hub bearings was easy. The spindles are another story.
I pushed the spacer to the side and I've tried using a screw driver, and then a punch to knock them out, with no luck. The bearing is only 8mm, so its hard to find something that fits at the proper angle to really do the trick. My punch barely fits, so it really isn't doing much. I try to be as DIY as possible so any advice is welcome. |

Heat.
Get a cheap hotplate, set it on high, heat that baby up, then try pushing them out.
Wear welders gloves

I've never been able to get them out without destroying them so I just beat them out with a punch and hammer and not worry about it. I've seen people remove them gently and without damage, but I figure the only time I need to remove them is if they're bad and need to be replaced anyhow. _________________ Spec TaG Masters @ NCMP / #23 |

Just be careful to not damage the bearing seating area... _________________ Ken Schilling

A BFH and a punch has always done the trick for me at the track. If I was home I would use a press.. _________________ We spend our money on Racing, Whiskey, and Women ~ The rest we waste! |

You should use a long 1/4" drift punch but, you should have the proper tool to back up the spindle or you could cause damage. Of course you'll need new bearings.
