|
|
I'm going to be replacing all my spindle, hubs, & axle bearings.
The spindle and hub bearings seem pretty straight forward. However, when it comes to axle bearings, its a whole new aspect. I have a 40mm rear axle, and I see bearings that range from under $20 a piece to close to $75 a piece.
I see, ceramic, race oil filled, standard, non friction edges, non friction dust caps, metal dust caps, nylon dust caps...etc.
All that said, leads me to ask. For someone who is just starting out, what is a "good" bearing? |

I always had luck with the "RBI - Reliability Built In" brand. Or just go with what your local kart shop has, this isn't the place to spend a bunch of extra money.

| For bearings I would give two choices: NTN and SKF bearings. Both are high quality free spinning bearings. The one quality that I believe is a necessity is a removable shield to be able to clean and relube. The SKF is/was also available in ceramic or steel balls and incorporate a patented feature that does not use set screws that dig into the axle. I would say the cost would not be beneficial to a beginner. FOr you I would go with the NTN. |

These are the best you can buy.
I'm not sure that your cassettes have an 80mm OD though. If so don't wast your money elsewhere.
