Please Help me identify this Kart

Hi everybody,

I've recently purchased a 6 Speed Shifter Kart for recreational purchases, got it for a bargain including trolley,tyres and spares.

Please could you assist me by identifying if possible what frame and Engine it has and any other associated information?

Chassis strikes me as a mid-90's Birel. Is there a plate welded on the rear crossbar behind the seat? It should have some stuff stamped on it regarding its homologation.

Motor is obviously a TM but I have no idea what model. I've never seen a reed TM like that so it might be a really old MotoX engine. Shifter kart engines back then were mostly rotaries.

Poking around on TM's website, if its a kart motor its probably somewhere around K4, K5, K6. But none of those are listed on their site (assuming they even existed). Motors prior to these are aircooled.

TM dont have anything MotoX related on their site prior to '99.

I was told that it was A CRG Frame. And from other forums I think there is a similar TM engine that is called an L3.. Very large expansion chamber on exhaust. The Car is a Dellorto VHSB which isn't too old?

On my phone and hard to tell in pics.

Does it have a permanent/non removable third rail ?

L3 sounds pluausible now that I've heard of one. I said Birel because frame is red (easlily changed of course) but also the brake system looks like an older Birel system. Can you get a pic of the entire frame from underneath?

Unfortunately the Kart is not in my possession at the moment but will be in a couple of days.

Were the TM Moto engines quite strong? The owner proclaimed the kart as ridiculously fast but of course that's subjective. The large pipes required for the water cooling leads me to believe this could be quite an engine.

Looking at the kingpin/spindle arrangement doesnt look like any CRG I've encountered. I'm still swaying towards Birel...
By today's standards, for racing I would think that motor would probably be out of its depth. But for fun it'll probably still nail 60 in well under 5seconds handy enough, so thats subjectively very fast. The later TM motos were strong but not popular.

You could try following people for info on the motor:
Tom Barth\Green Flag karting
Italian Motors (they posted a new kart with a TM Moto on it on FaceBook recently)
TM themselves, might be worth sending them an email.

How much did you pay do you mind me asking?

I paid R8000 (South African Rand) for the Kart, Two sets of extra rims and four sets of good condition slicks, 3 sets of brake pads and a kart trolley(quite robust)

Approximately 900$

In South Africa, you can't get a shifter any cheaper.

If its a runner you'll be hard pressed to get anything faster for $900 thats for sure.

Id say its a PCR just based on the master cylinders and the front spindle setup.
