What are your opions on rib protectors. A guy spun in front of me this weekend and a cliped his right rear tire when trying to miss him, the seat did a number on my left ribs. How much room do they take up in your seat( mine is a pretty snug fit as is ) and what is a good brand to get.

Thanks guys

I started with no vest and had moderate rib pain. I got a K1 and it helped but I still had some pain so I went to the Rib Tech carbon fiber and I really hurt myself. I came to learn that my ribs on my left side don't line up the way they should. The stiffer carbon fiber vest was the worst thing I could have done. It's not common but keep it in mind.

I have the valhalla armadillo rib protector (didn't have the coin for the ribtect to be honest) and haven't had any rib pain whatsoever.

I use to run a T 11 Tillet seat, and had rib problems no matter what I wore. IMO, the Ribtect seat made me a believer out of me, never had a rib problem since..

I use the armadillo full vest. It's a bit bulky but it strengthens my confidence and I never have any rib pain.

It is a bit bulky, and the rib protector protrudes a bit in the back. This makes you sit a little bit further forward in the seat.

With that being said, I have not had an issue with my ribs until this past season. I attribue that issue to the seat position not from the rib protector.

Overall the Armadillo is a good rib protector for the price.

The Ribtect3 vest or the original Ribtect vest is much thinner and more comfortable while providing a good feel for the chassis and providing plenty of protection to the rib cage.

Created by a racer..........for the racer!!

The side protection on the armadillo doesn't take up much at all. As Nick mentioned, it's the back that you'll notice a bit of lost space. This is referring to the full armadillo vest.
