(Decatur, IL) Maybe its true that every new beginning comes from an end. After the lights went out on the 2012 season, a new series emerged from the dark. It started with an idea that was quickly molded into a reality, when Tony Shoaf, a.k.a. TT Bone, decided that this was a way to live out his dream. After listening to team owners, track owners, drivers, promoters, and your everyday kart fan, the TT Bone Extreme Karting and Company Midwest Lightning Series was born.

The series will consist of 3 weekly Go-Kart tracks and one weekly stock car track located in Macon, Illinois at the historic Mighty Macon Speedway. the participating Go-Kart tracks are: Cerro Gordo Speedway in Cerro Gordo, Illinois, Ealeyville Speedway located in Mechanicsburg, Illinois, and K3 Karting Speedway, in Kankakee, Illinois. There will be 10 races between the 4 tracks throughout Spring/Summer of the 2013 season. The series will kick off the last weekend of April and conclude the last weekend in August. The schedule for the 2013 Lightning Series is as follows:

April 26 Fri Cerro Gordo
April 27 Sat Ealeyville
May 24 Fri Cerro Gordo
May 25 Sat K3
June 8 Sat Ealeyville
July 19 Fri Cerro Gordo
July 20 Sat K3
August 3 Sat Macon
August 10 Sat K3
August 30 Fri Cerro Gordo

When the series events occur at these facilities, the tracks will conduct business as done on a weekly basis. All tracks excluding Ealeyville will require an entry fee, in which the teams will be racing for a percentage payback (please contact individual tracks for payback procedures) and a pit pass. Ealeyville will not require an entry fee as these two events will not receive cash winnings on the nightly shows. Entry fee and pit passes will vary from track to track but will not exceed more than a $5 increase from a standard event cost at that facility.

When it came to making the determination of the classes that were going to take the stage for this highly anticipated series it was not easy. All classes from the Jr's all the way up are more than deserving of such a great opportunity. All considerations were taken into account. Listening to the team owners, drivers, sponsors, and discussions between the series, the promoters, and all people involved led us to what we feel would be the best fit for the first year of this type of series. Adult Clone 380lbs following AKRA rules, Winged Sprint Kart 450lbs following the WSK rules, and the Open Class following the UAS rule book. All 3 classes will be an open tire. All 3 classes will be subject to a technical inspection at any time during the series. All classes will use their top 9 points nights as their final points tally. When the series is at the participating track, all of there track rules will be enforced. Any questions about any of the rules please contact Bruce Dulgar at BruceDulgar@comcast.net.

The series was created because it was felt that the weekly racer should have a chance to run for a series championship, chance of making some extra money, not having the expense of driving all around all the country, and not miss out on anything at their weekly track. All tracks have agreed that they will not penalize the teams or drivers that are participating by running non points shows for the series classes on nights the series is at another track. Teams and drivers will be racing for one of the largest point purses in the Midwest. Each class will pay $1000 to win $500 for second, $250 for third, $150 for fourth and $100 for fifth, and sixth through tenth will receive $30. All points money in all classes will be guaranteed regardless of kart count! There will be Sponsor Contingency prizes for 1st through 10th place points standings, as well as some nightly prizes. Positions, awards, and contingency requirements are still to be determined at this time. Great Sponsors such as TT Bone Extreme Karting, Joe Gibbs Driven, Hoosier Tire, Bell Helmets, Unilli and ARC Racing have contributed to make this series a success. More sponsors and contingency prizes will be added leading up to and throughout the season.
