Thats OK Chris, Im not telling you where to race or what you have to buy from me to race. The # tell me that a lot of racers like to go to the same track. Its the local drivers and the new drivers that keep coming back that will keep the a club strong. Local shops see more money spent when things are kept local also.

You sound like you have a great time racing the cali boys and girls, really that's all that matters. Enjoy, and keep it on all 4. Cool

The fact that you can race SKUSA tires at a SKUSA event. Really? This is news? If these are the races you are racing

your not a club racer. PKRA is a club so I guess we race club tires. Our duty is to the club first and it's members in whole. I say in whole because this only effects the shifter class members at PKRA. If your a club racer you buy yellows if you are not you buy whites. How freakin hard was that?

steve... all good ..point taken.

veerachart ..point i was making , was i named 9 tracks that whites are allowed.. 1 that yellows are allowed

local "club" or "national" club.... whatever... you can categorize as you deem fit.

if you want to race (shifters) on one track all year, with 5 guys ( give or take) on a propitiatory tire , with minimal track time, and a "loose" daily racing schedule...PKRA is the place .

I find it vry hard to believe that PKRA is the only club in the country that runs yellow MG's

if you want to race (shifters) on one track all year, with 5 guys ( give or take) on a propitiatory tire , with minimal track time, and a "loose" daily racing schedule...PKRA is the place .

By definition isn't this a club racing. Thats what people come here for.

One thing to remember, is when a sport is properly tiered, club competition leads to regional which leads to national. The best from the clubs get together in search of increased competition, and the best in the regionals then move to Nationals. That's why the clubs SHOULD be larger. It's the pyramid. We need our clubs to have 250 racers, our regionals to draw 200 and our Nationals to pull the absolute best from the regions.

But that's in a perfect world.

Having 150+ at the LAKC is awesome. If all the other SoCal clubs has 100+, we'd be in great shape. This is not the case, however. People racing at only CalSpeed better think about supporting the other tracks occasionally, or they won't have that option in the future.

That said, it is my belief, and I reiterate, MY belief, that clubs should consider working with other clubs to find rules connections as a premium goal, and should be very wary of making sure that their members who want to race regionally can do some easily and in the same equipment. I can still remember when I first started and clubs boasted of the regional results of their races. I don't see as much of that these days.

There are issues like this here at home in Ontario where we have clubs on MGs and clubs on Vegas. I know from talking to friends with kids, that they'd love to try other tracks, but they'd have to buy a set of tires for one weekend. Up here, the four-cycle kids gets 3-5 weekends on their MGs. I belong to the biggest club in Ontario (125+ members) and I think a lot of them would like to drive up the road a couple times a year to try something new, but the expense of the different tires makes them stay home.

I think the bottom line is this...if you're selecting a club tire, you need to look at quality, durability, financial benefits to the club, the ability for members to take their equipment and testing to regional and national events, and of course, what is good for the shops that support the club. I laugh out loud when people scorn shops for trying to make money, when it is the shops that bring in racers, support them, teach them, hold their hands and thrash on their equipment when needed. The shops are the building blocks of karting, which sit upon the foundation, which is the organizations and the clubs....you can't have one without the other.

name 9 tracks that you can race shifters on with MG yellows?,
then lets talk about propitiatory .. then we can go back to the ones that cost less after that..if you want to keep kicking this dead horse

Chris - they do run 5 different track configurations. You should give them a try, certain you would have a good time. One thing I will note; unfortunately, you will not get an all paid expenses to race in Brazil as you got from PKC/SKUSA...haha...you are a lucky man but it was well deserved i think.

Well said. This is the kind of thing I have been praying for between PKRA and Musselman for a while now.

PKRA has a huge club base, and well truthully we don't have many. On a good club race we have 8 racers racing a "lawless" TaG class. These 8 drivers include TaG AND Masters. There are usually about 8 briggs, and 4-5 shifters. Thats it.

IF, thats a BIG IF the two clubs would get together on rules and regulations maybe we could have mixed races, or an "arizona" series between PKRA and Musselman.

Since I have been at Musselman the popularity of Mojo D2's has grown immensely to the point that we might consider making it a "spec" tire. This is a good step in the right direction. If we could get a TaG class with matching rules between the two clubs, that would be HUGE.

As it is right now, I have not raced at PKRA. I have a brother that lives in Phoenix and lodging is no problem. However I have excess tires in my garage, none o which are stamped with "PKRA" there for they are not legal. I also believe (I may be mistaken) that Rotax motors and such must be sealed. Now this isn't a big deal as mine is currently sealed, however I know some others that are not sealed as they are a racer on a budget and do rebuilds themselves.

Tucson has a GREAT track, but I believe the outlaw races are frowned upon by some of the Phoenix guys, in the same respect we can race with what we brought, which brings down prices.

If we could come up with a Tech inspection that is a slight bit more"loose" with rules than PKRA, yet not outlaw such as Tucson, we could instantly have an "arizona" series, being that a 2 hour drive between the two cities isn't much for racing!

Anyhow, I hope this drama doesn't keep anyone from enjoying the Tucson track.

I have email communications still in my phone from you to the BOD and vise versa that leads up to this. That's not 2nd hand. We discussed at Gatorz you and me. I've talked to Bryan. BTW thats the two sides I keep referring to Stewart and Chris. I've seen the proposal.

Justun, Tucson is a great track we love racing their and consider it our 2nd home. And just like Tucson you can practice on any tire you want. But unlike Tucson come race day we require racers to be on class spec tires. I believe the membership in whole is for this, to keep things fair among competitors.

The "PKRA" stamped mojos you are referring to is what's required by the race promoter "Bondurant" keep in mind this is no different than whats required by SKUSA. We practice on our non PKRA Mojos because we a plenty of them, and reserve our "PKRA" stamped ones for race day.

Tech is one of the reasons we made the move to Rotax. The engines required a passport and there is at least a perception that you competitors motors are also legal because of the passport process. I don't think any serious kart shop owner would risk their Rotax license and put illegal motors together. Now I know it has happened and they are no longer allowed to passport Rotax's anymore.

I hope you make the trek up and enjoy some SR. Rotax's with us. We have a decent amount in the Sr class and you will only be racing against other Sr's with the same motors and the same tires at the same weight.
