Hey guys,

Wanting to switch my tires from one side to another to even out wear, and wondering how directional they really are? I'm a recreational racer, so I'm wondering if I'll notice running them against the way the directional arrows show.

Matt

Rotax rulesstate you must run them in direction to the arrows on the tire. And even besides that if you just switch sides it wont help. For example: You wear the inside of the tire worse than the outside so you want to switch tires... well when you switch that inside is still on the inside so it doesnt make a difference. The only way to get a little more out of the tire is to take it off the rim and flip it and then put it on the other side so the original inside becomes the outside.

Like Bailey said, if you want to switch them from side to side you will need to dismount them and flip them on the wheel so the arrows still run in the correct direction. But we have found no advantage in doing that, the tires wear so much on the insides that when you flip them and put the worn edge on the outside the kart will sometimes handle strange, especially under braking.

+1^

The only time I would recommend it is if you are a new karter and just wanting to get seat time. Once you start racing, don't bother, even for practice.
