I just recently bought a kart and built a hand control steering wheel and put a paddle setup on it. I can't use the foot pedals quick enough to be safe on the track. (Cerebral Palsey) I've seen in a couple of rule books that there are exceptions made for physical disabilaties. My question is... If they do allow me to run. How much weight will they have me add onto the car? I don't want an advantage because because of a technicality. I just want to race my kart, as does everyone else here.

Eric, I think you really need to get in touch with whatever organization you plan to run with, most of the rules books say they will make exceptions for hand controls, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem, but I believe they have to give it a thumbs up for each case.

There used to be a provision at least in the junior karts for maximum weight without driver. That was to discourage younger drivers from bumping up to heavy classes, not sure if that applies to shifters, but I would think you still need to make minimum weight..
