Portland Karting Assoicaiton will be hosting the first Northwest Gold Cup Road Race of the 2013 season at Oregon Raceway Park. Saturday May 4th.
ORP is a fantastic Road Race Course with many elevation changes and has become one of the favorite tracks of West Coast. No doubt about it you will be busy the whole time on the track.
One of my favorite turns is the half pipe.
There is a paid practice Friday May 3rd hosted by John Sullivan.
Here is a link to videos of the track.

Online entry is now open for the May 4th race.

This will be a great race weekend. We already have a several entries from our racing friends from Northern Cal.

| Start like Infineon. Maybe a tooth more on a clutch kart. Go to Friday practice if you've never been before. It will take a good part of the day just figuring out where you are going! Blind hills, banked corners, uphill, downhill. It's got it all. |

Uhmmm, that would be the 4 wheels on the ground set up. Once they leave the pavement, doesn't matter what gear you're in.
I am still waiting on K1 for my new kartsuit, which is on backorder, and at this time doesn't look like it's going to make it on time. _________________ Play now, work later! |

Does anyone know what sort of membership is required for this race? PKC offers a membership and a road racing membership. Do I need one or the other or both? _________________ A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on. -- Winston Churchill. |

| All I needed last year was an IKF membership. |

All I have is an IKF membership also. The race fee is higher if you're not a PKA member, is all. Don't forget about the practice day on Friday if you're heading up. It's a long drive for just the one day. _________________ Play now, work later! |

All that is required is an IKF membership. If you are a member of a Club in the NW Gold Cup there is a discounted rate. Portland Karting Association is one of NW Gold Cup member Clubs.
If racers are planning to run all of the Gold Cup Road Race events for the 2013 season it maybe worth your while to become a member of one of the clubs as the reduced entry fee is one of the perks of membership and there is substantial savings involved.
Cindy Schorn, PKA Road Race Registration chairperson will be at ORP Friday May 3rd all day and will be happy to assist anyone with registration, club membership and IKF membership with forms, information etc. to may your weekend at ORP a fun and enjoyable event.
For those racers with minors in the family or minor racers Ann Harlow PKA Secretary will be on hand Saturday in registration to provide notary services for the minors release forms and to also help with registration and information about the club.
We will also have Grand National information at the event too.
The race season is now upon us and a good number of racers are sending in there online registration and are planning to attend the first race of the season at ORP.
Friday Practice is being hosted by John Sullivan who will be the person charge of the practice day.
If you have more questions I can answer them.
Thanks
Michael Schorn
