Are there any dealers out there yet, that have the pipes for sale?

Laukaitis is expecting their first pre orders to arrive Tuesday along with a couple extras for sale.

Waiting to see how if any of the local tracks or regional series adopt this new pipe before stocking too many.

I'd like to ask a few questions about the new pipe as well....
Is there any club or organization that has used this pipe? If so, is anyone willing to offer their experiences? I know there are statements made about additional longevity and that it will be faster than the 4 hole, but is there actual experience with racing it over the course of a season rather than information from a test session that really can't give any usefull information about how it performs over time or things to do to avoid problems.
Are there any pictures posted anywhere of the pipe mounted on a kart so we can see what sort of hardware is needed. Does it mount like a tuned pipe or a tag pipe or something different?
Lynn Haddock says the powerband is very similar to the 4 hole can, but also says that the clutch should be adjusted down 600 to 800 rpm.... are these statement contradictory or does it mean that the entire band moves down to around 7800 to 13500? Is there recommendations as far as gear selection compared to 4 hole can?
How does this affect carburetor settings? Will these change as well? We have no time to try this before the first race. I suppose dyno time will help answer some of this, but actual experience would be helpful.
Mike mentioned they are expecting preorders to come in.... would it be inappropriate to ask how many? We are 19hrs from Fla and I'm not willing to make the trip with the chance of having an 8 to 10 kart field. I'm more inclined to wait until after Daytona to see how the class looks before commiting to it. If there was a better idea of how many people were going to run the class, more people might consider joining in as well.
Is anyone planning to run the class?

What is "contradictory" about my statement ?
I said SIMILAR.
The new pipe does seem to come on a little sooner than the 4 hole and runs about the same on top, thus my comment about a little lower clutch slip.
I am sure with some testing that more performance will be found with fine tuning on this new item.
All I was trying to say was that from what I know currently, the setup from the 4 hole can will be a very good place to start.

I didn't say it WAS contradictory - I ASKED if it was..... and you clarfied it for me. To me it sounds like the pipe powerband is a bit broader than the can. Thanks
Please take into consideration that I have no information about the configuration other than what I am reading here... It is supposed to be faster than the 4 hole can, but has a similar powerband so I'm just poking around a little to see what I can find out about it from people that may have seen it or run it.
Sorry if you thought I was challenging you - that wasn't the intent.

No worries John.
I have just posted a few things so folks know this new system is not going to be all that much different than the 4 hole deal.
It will be faster, it will be much quieter, it will be easier on the engine (less localized heat) but I do not think it will take an entirely new engine configuration like perhaps a full blown expansion chamber might.
I honestly think when the smoke clears that everyone is gonna be pleased with the change.

I consider myself fairly ignorant in the ways of the KT although we have raced it for the past 4 years in Sportsman and Jr Can. My son now has to move up and initially we were looking at TAG but now I will be following the new pipe developements to see how they shake out.

I've read in the other large on-going thread about all the motor work which will need to be done to a Can motor to run this pipe. Then I've read that the pipe can just be bolted on, clutch adjusted and run. Can someone elaborate on this?

Also, wheres the extra speed coming from? If the upper RPM range is the same as a Can then the speed will be the same. 13500 with a Can will be the same as 13500 with a pipe. Simple math dictates that RPM x gearing x wheel diameter/5280= speed (I think? I would have to right out the formula to make sure I'm right). Are people meaning that it will get to speed faster by way of quicker RPM's etc?

Thanks,
Dan

If the pipe puts out more power. (higher torque curve) you should be able to run less gear, so you’ll be going faster at the same RPM and faster in between, depending on the curve. Just a guess. Over laying dyno curves could answer a lot of your questions.
Maybe someone can post the curves, one with the can, the other with the new pipe.
Strange that the powers that be would make such a big change with no information on what people are suppose to expect. I would think people would be given some ideas. Carb setting, clutch settings, gear ratios, something!!

Is that dyno with an as-is 2012 spec supercan motor, or were there tuning changes made with the new pipe?

Jim,

All we did was run the engine with a 7548 SSX can then switched to the new RLV SR-Y pipe set at approx. 9 3/4. !/4 longer than the minimum. Adjusted carb slightly with no engine changes.

Hope that helps,
Kent Laukaitis
