The key line is:

"The KAC and SEB have reviewed the following items, and thank these members for the input:"

The current system of listing numbers like #8431 pretty much means something only to those people who have written to the SEB or a committee, and received a number to the letter in the reply. To the rest of us, who have no knowledge of the letter's contents, a FasTrack reply can be pretty inscrutable. Confused

So if you wrote the letter mentioned by number, or are on the SEB or the Committee that covers the class it was written about, you know what the reference is. Otherwise, good luck guessing.

Regarding #8871, obviously someone wrote regarding the FJ weights for engine types. The statement "It is the intent of the KAC and SEB to make WF more advantageous than the KT100, thus the weights have been changed accordingly per that policy." Is a plainly worded shout to say that even though the WF will not be legislated as THE SPEC ENGINE as was formerly in the works, it will be anyway, by use of weight adjustments to make other power plants non-competitive. The more I see of the club's current SEB, the more it looks like US National politics. I'll stop there before I say something that offends someone. Rolling Eyes

Okay, so for the reduction of KML weights member input has been made, but not final decision as of yet? Now, on the not approved listing it said this kart is already legal for KM national events. What is "this kart"? Are we talking 250cc 4 strokes, 80cc 2 strokes?

Beats the s**t outta me....

Like I indicated, it is a screwey system. It used to be that there was at least a subject teaser, like "DSP Weights" attached to the thumbs up or down decision. As it is now, only the original letter writer, the SEB, and the Committee members have a clue. Sucks, doesn't it?

This is an unofficial response from a KAC peep (who happened to miss the last call due to family health issues) I'll try to shed some light on things.... caveat emptor :

To answer Bill's original question I'd need more from him about what he wants to know. The NOV fastrack contains no changes as yet (and for KM,KML they would not be for 2013 anyways at this point). So in a way, it means "nothing".

The verbage in response to #8431 is to indicate KAC is recommending a weight break for all ladies participants (in the respective ladies class - not a lady running in open). The KAC would like as much member input as always and have received some input from KML participants, more is always better. Personally I recommeded lowering KML weights in a letter I wrote almost 2 yr ago long before I joined the KAC. No final decision is made, one issue is of how much weight to reduce. Input is great at www.sebscca.com Personally I'd pick 35lbs, but the initial change may be some number less than that.

For #8871 please remember the AC portion of KAC is "Advisory Committee", there have been examples where the KAC has learned of a change to FJx rules at the same time the membership does, the SEB/BOD have the ultimate power here. Confused If I were a parent shopping for a kart for my kid (and I will be in a few years) I would recommend the WF. Hopefully we can get a stable set of rules in place for the long term future. Also note the WF spec engine proposal would have allowed for non WF at regional events always, and had a long sunset period.

As to the 2nd question "this kart" (part of not recommend #8838) - it is in reference to an alternate motor for a new adult kart class (slower than KM/KML). If someone is interested in creating a new adult kart class the thing to do is get 30 people to show up in Lincoln driving the proposed class but running in KM/KML (as it is legal) and showing regional participation as well. Pretty much the same for any new class in Solo.

Hope this clears things up.
