I just got into an argument with some coworkers. These are the kind of guys that just got a GSXR 600 and act like they have been riding for years. They base someone knowledge and experience on who has the "coolest" bike, it seems like. I personally do not ride on the road, but I have used to ride track days on my track specific Zx-6R, and can pick out every bit of BS these guys spit out their mouth. It seems as if all they care about is straight line speed, and couldn't hold a corner for the life of them.

You might show them some superkart footage with onboard data from youtube. As an aside, nobody who rides a 600 should, or is entitled to, be obsessed with straight line speed Very Happy

If you want to get more people into karting then start explaining it it in a clear meaningfull way. There isn't a track or forum that does a very good job of that. It should be easy to get on a forum and in a few pages understand all the classes the engines and chassis used and the age ranges but it's not. When the question is asked the standard answer is visit your local track and that's ussless. Everyone starts on the web no one wants to drive hours without having some understanding.

Every track should be posting the classes run the equiptment needed and the participation they get in those classes. Ask any beginner and they will confirm that this basic information is hard to impossible to find. Easy Kart comes the closest to a good explanation.

Get 'em out to the track! Never, in nearly 30 years of karting have I had someone look down on karting after attending a race and watching them perform.
