Race Engineer to Alonso:

Fernado....Felipe is faster than you...do you copy?

Wish it were true.

I am not sure why they did not let Massa pass and see if he could catch Weber and slow him down so Alonso might have had a chance to get by and then of course Massa would let Alonso back by.

Sad to say when you are the #2 driver you have to eat a lot of #2
Yes Massa was faster and I was happy to see that but Alonso needed the points for the drivers title but he will not win the drivers title because Red Bull is back up front

Felipe was faster but he also had the new exhaust and Alonso didn't.

There's just less to go wrong if you hold Felipe behind Alonso.

Another reason why I don't like F1. I think it's ridiculous that drivers are told they have to let another driver win. Not much of a stretch to say the races are fixed.

Ehhhhhh, it's a pretty big stretch to say the races are fixed. In this example the competitors weren't even fighting for the win. The cars in questions numbered just two, and they were only given orders from their team. Not the FIA. Had these two positions changed, it would not have change the running order of the rest of the field.

Formula 1 is about constructors, then drivers. In that order. That's just the nature of the game. NASCAR doesn't operate on any principle hierarchy such as this, thus it really doesn't make sense to even compare the two. They are different. End of story.

Many teams don't operate like that, but Ferrari is notorious for always using the phrase "you work for the team". Meaning that if it'll be better for the team if you stay behind your teammate, you stay behind your teammate.

It exists in other forms of motorsport too. If Kenseth is 10 points out of the points lead and Biffle or Edwards are 12th and 16th in the points, you don't think the Biff and Cousin Carl are going to push and help Kenseth?

If Felipe was faster than Fernando and proved that earlier in the year rather than being a complete turd on-track, he wouldn't have to let Fernando stay ahead.

F1 is more of a team sport than other motorsports.
