| Sorry guys again for beginner questions. The manual says to use a mix of distilled water and coolant compatible with aluminum......at the track I'm racing on Saturday you can only use water....this ok for engine? Should I be checking coolant and temps more regularly? |

Water only is actually required at most tracks and will not damage your motor. HOWEVER, you should use DISTILLED WATER or the minerals in tap water can attack the aluminum and leave deposits, as well as eventually destroying the springs on your water seals and causing premature engine rebuilds due to a leaky water seal. _________________ Nick Weil

Always use distilled water first off. It will rust LESS. Secondly double check to see if they allow ANYTHING. Some tracks often allow water wetter because it isn't anything like normal antifreeze. Much less slippery and gummy. Often a radiator spill with water and water wetter evaporates similar to water alone, not nearly as bad as antifreeze or other coolant.
However just go by what the track wants!! |

Straight water cools better than mix with glycol anyway.
Water wetter does help and also contains enough lubricant to help the seals last a bit longer. _________________ Arrow AX-8/ Rotax Sr. |
