Anybody else see this?
http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/article/miller-out-with-the-new-in-with-the-old
Interesting to read the comments at the end of the article. Robin Miller's been covering this for a while now, and it looks like it's a possibility. This would be DEATH for IndyCar! _________________ Play now, work later! |

Well he didn't quite kill it the first time.
Seriously, that must be one weird dude. Outside of Indiana he must be one of the most hated people in America. The kind of ego that it must take to insulate yourself from that. _________________ A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on. -- Winston Churchill. |

Oh great....now Indycar is doomed right after having an American driver win the series... and the FTG threads will soon take over. *sigh* _________________ Owner, www.hamiltonhelmets.com // UAS Racer #76 // Karting for karting's sake...keep it fun! |

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again
I hope the rest of the IMS board has more sense than TG or US based open wheel racing is truely dead.

what's very murky to me is the intentions of the board. To sell the series or bring in someone else to run it.
They continue to say the series is not for sale, but they also told us last Thursday that RB situation has not changed.
RP and CG have clearly stated they're not involved in TG group.
If RB was fired for not taking care of owners you'd have to think those 2 would need to be on board if things were to change. As I read RP statement I had the feeling he was pissed.
"I'm very disappointed in this decision; the board continues to show poor judgment. There is no future plan," Penske said. "The series had momentum. New cars, new engines and new race formats, all brought about by Randy.
"No business can run with a senior management change every two years."
I have a 12 year old that is as big a fan of OWR as I was when I was that age. He's tired of this crap as well.
This is messing, ugly and sport suicide. |

My uneducated guess is the family wants out of the race series sanctioning business and TG, being the egomaniac he is, wants in.
All the family needs to make money is the track and the Indy 500 name. Let TG and Kalkhoven or whoever else he opartners up with do the heavy lifting. |

Get Robin Miller in there to run things.
He may or may not be any better, but at least you'll get a straight story... _________________ Owner, www.hamiltonhelmets.com // UAS Racer #76 // Karting for karting's sake...keep it fun! |

It really surprises me that Randy was canned. Obviously we don't know the back-end of things, but at least the fans liked him and felt he was doing the right things. I know that one of the claims was the $$ lost compared to where he said he would be (break even for 2012), but if you take out what China cost, he essentially broke even. And there was nothing he could have done with what happened in China.
My guess is also that we'll see an owner's group come in and try to buy the series (which is essentially worth nothing). A few of the owners have enough money to run it (and not worry about losing a few million here or there), but the problem is that they have their own agenda. And I don't think it's money-it's winning. So we'll go back to rules / races / specs that are advantageous to a few owners (not to mention any names, but Penske & Ganassi would be right up there). And it will be things like more open testing where the teams with money can afford it and the little teams can't. Jut little tweaks here & there to give them the advantage. _________________ Spec TaG Masters @ NCMP / #23 |

| Oh I agree with Scott about an owner series. Last time that happened they lost out to TG. |

Ah, but it would be a good thing on the resume for the job he ultimately wants in the long run: running Formula 1.
