At CMSP we seem to develope a push after 7 or 8 laps. Of course I would say the inside tire heats up causes more drag overpowering the fronts. Never a problem with the 8 lap qualifier. I went to a softer axle and widened the rear stance by 1/4 inch for the feature of 14 laps to no avail. Should I add more air pressure to the rears to make less of a contact patch, add a little more caster, move the seat back a tad to roll the rear over more, or raise the seat a little to time the inside rear to set down slower? thanks _________________ Don't get stuck in someone else's discarded chewing gum with your thought process. |

You don’t mention doing anything to the front end? Why’s that?

Assuming your scale numbers are good, you first should lower front tire pressure.
More often than not though, burning the fronts off early in a race is from over-charging corners and is a driving thing. Using the tires to slow the kart down will overheat them and make the kart push as the run goes on.
I'd try adjusting tire pressures and driving style a bit first. Otherwise, we've found that increasing camber can help give the fronts a bigger contact patch and keep the front more consistent throughout a run. However, tipping the tire more vertical like that can also decrease the overall feel of the front end on turn-in, making the kart feel less reactive. _________________ T.J. Koyen

Wouldn't widening the rear make it worse.
Widening frees up the rear on exit but gives more entry grip.
If you have a push you do two things, add front grip or remove rear. _________________ Matt Dixon

Really!! _________________ understeer happens on road courses and usually is pronounced with a British accent. Push happens on ovals and usually is pronounced through a wad of chew. Other than that, I don't think there's a difference - Jim Derrig
