For 2013, the Midwest ProKart Challenge championship will host three double-race weekends for a six-round program, counting the best five races toward the final point standings. The opening two rounds are set for a return to the I-55 Raceway Complex in Pevely, Missouri, just south of St. Louis in April. Commonly called ‘Thunder Valley’, the track features hairpin turns and a banked Monza to ensure a challenge for all racers. The next stop will take the series north at the beginning of June to the US Air Motorsports Raceway in Shawano, Wisconsin – the site of the 2010 SKUSA SummerNationals. The Kenny Vernberg-designed sprint course is a true challenge to any racer and will be the only national event to visit this amazing circuit in 2013. The series concludes the 2013 season at the New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana. The state-of-the-art facility owned and operated by IndyCar driver Mark Dismore will host the final two rounds, which will also serve as the SKUSA ‘Midwest Shifterfest’. The series year-end awards banquet will follow the action on September 15 on site at New Castle.
2013 Midwest ProKart Challenge Schedule
April 19-21 - I-55 Raceway - Pevely, Missouri
May 31- June 2 - US Air Motorsports Raceway - Shawano, Wisconsin
September 13-15 - New Castle Motorsports Park - New Castle, Indiana
The inaugural SKUSA Midwest Shifterfest will be the debut running of what is planned to be an annual event celebrating shifterkart racing in the East. With a focus on building an exciting purse and prize package, the plan will be to gather shifterkart drivers from all over the country. A solid purse featuring $1000-to-win is the initial plan for the Open Shifter category, providing the field meets the 10-kart minimum. Anything over that number will provide the motivation for expanding the purse. SKUSA is actively working to assemble great prizes and special events for the weekend, and shops interested in partnering with SKUSA on the growth of Shifterfest are asked to contact Stan Bryniarski directly. Racers should book off the weekend (September 13-15) and should also stay tuned for regular updates on the events throughout the year.
The Midwest ProKart Challenge online store will open and begin accepting discounted pre-registration for the I-55 Raceway event in Pevely on March 15 (www.skusastore.com).
