How long should a belt last, given it is not too tight or too loose?? Also is it a good idea to turn a belt around?? Im runnin a Rotax with a 16 driver.
Thanks |

We have had belts last for years but it all comes down to many factors. How much you run, motor HP, if you send rocks, gravel, dirt, rain water, ect through the drive system, how you maintain adjustment of the belt and how small of a gear you run. Big sprockets like a 19 tooth will be easier on it and small ones like the 14 will work it harder due to less tooth engagement. If you see teeth worn on the drive edge flip over the belt but expect you will need another fairly soon. I'd expect a belt on any tag motor to make it through a full season then change it just to be safe. That's our opinion. _________________ www.Hegar4.com |

| I was thinking that a 16th driver was small, but if I switch now, I'll have to buy a boat load of axle gears!! Thanks Chris |

I agree with Chris. I've been running belt drive with our Leopard setup for a few years now. Belts, if taken care of, will last a season if not even longer. We're in the minority in our class with the belt drive/chain drive choice, but even with the banter about the pros/cons of either, I am pleased with our choice. _________________ Jeff Wesell
